tOSU Recruiting Discussion

This time of year is always interesting because kids are committing at a rapid pace, yet nothing is binding yet and there's still a lot of time until signing day. This time last year, didn't we have Anzalone and Lewis Neal committed? And nobody was mentioning guys like trey Johnson and Gareon Conley. Losing chase sucks, but I can't wait to find out about the late offer guys the staff goes after, and how the landscape in CFB will change and push commits in other directions. The impending sanctions at Oregon and Miami could work in our favor, and we could end up with a 4star DE or LB from south FL or a kid from Cali or Texas. Still so much time, it's only the beginning of June and were actually looking really good with our current commits and the top remaining recruits

Very true. I'm actually surprised that so many top recruits are jumping on a school this early. It's only the summer and we have the whole season to impress recruits. Top guys can be flipped, I mean what happens when Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville loses 5-6 games and LSU, Notre Dame, Texas AM loses 3-4 games. What happens when Clemson loses 3-4 games, or what happens when they go 14-0 and win a major bowl game and Swinney upgrades to a top program that has been struggling with an expired coach (Texas) or that can't find a good coach (Tennessee, Southern Cal, etc.).
On the other hand, the same thing could happen to us, lose 2-3 games and not go to a major bowl. Or we could go 14-0 and win a National Title or 13-1 and win a Rose Bowl or go 12-0, lose the BIG title, go to the Sugar Bowl and kick the crap out of the #2 SEC team. Bottom line, a lot can change in the next 7 months.

If Kentucky loses 5-6 games "what happens" is a ticker tape parade down Main St. in Lexington.

Haha, alright, for Kentucky it's what happens if they lose 7-9 games. 5 and they'll give their coach a 7 figure bonus. Their coaches are recruiting based on the fact that they can turn the program around, much like Tennessee. Odds are they'll fail and the recruits will start looking elsewhere. Loiseville is doing the same thing, recruiting solely based upon their Florida win, where the UF players didn't take the game seriously. What happens when they lose to a few really bad ACC teams?
Much like USC did last year, and they lost a lot of talent down the home stretch.

UK's 2014 recruits I'm sure know that UK won't be very good this year, and I believe that stoops has sold them on getting early playing time and their class starting their "ascent" up the sec. It sounds great as a pitch and it's a novel idea, but we all know that when it comes down to it, UK still won't be beating teams like UF, south Carolina, UGA, or even Tennessee in the sec east.
And Louisville seems like it just has given up on recruiting. Last years class was pretty bad(ranked at 52 on rivals) outside of getting James quick, a bunch of lower tier guys. And this years class doesn't look any better so far. They actually haven't used that UF momentum, it's been the opposite, UF has been doing really well recruiting early and will continue to do so.
I like how osu is sitting right now at 11, as we all know that well continue to climb. Getting jamarco jones and Raekwon alone will put us right outside the top 5, IMO. But we still could get either qbs of Allen or Harris, a juco OT, and of course the most fun is seeing the late offers and interest from national guys from out of the blue.

Now that Allen is off the board, here's my prediction for the QB spot: Stephen Collier blows everyone away at camp and earns an offer. I see a guy with excellent arm strength and far better mobility than Kizer or Allen. Really see a little bit of Colin Kaepernick. A lot actually.

Here's JR film:

I really am coming around on Harris but if that falls through, I'm starting to wonder if we just keep recruiting Watson, Allen, Heard, and Harris and if we miss on them, we just skip taking a QB this year. Outside of Kizer, I don't see any OSU-caliber QBs we are in on and he is FAR from a given even if we offer. However, I think necessity dictates that we are going to take someone...
