We just need more time for this. Keeping our OL coach will be huge for continued success on the field and developing relationships with recruits. The Walrus had higher ranked recruits and did less with them. It will take some time to change this reputation but we are getting there.
One thing I did want to add. Does anyone think the spread is seen by recruits as having less importance on a strong O Line and therefore showcases the players talents less? I for one think this is dead wrong but I can see a young man thinking this way compared to a traditional offense.

pnuts34;2268993; said:I had a question for you all since weve been mentioning the importance of o linemen: in the spread offense that were running, do players being recruited for specific positions matter as much? Like if we're recruiting a guy who's an og, if he's athletic enough can't he play ot as well? It seems like all the guys on our line this year started out at different positions. Was this from the ineptitude of the previous coaching staff, or is it because in this offense if you're athletic enough you can be interchangeable? A lot of guys that played different positions are now excelling at new positions in the span of a year! Coulda guy like Dawson come in and play og and ot and Gardner oc and og? Just wondering if athleticism and versatility are more important in the spread as opposed to a pro style offense, in which a guy usually stays at the same position.
Hope this makes sense and hope to hear some type of answer breaking it down

Derek Young @Derek11W
In Meyer's 6 years at UF, he only took an early commitment from 2 players before the current class's signing day His last class in 2010.

4 of 6 Meyer classes at UF didnt have their first commitment til April. With limited numbers, expect that to be similar in OSU's 2014 class.

Those numbers were just to show the probability there wouldn't be a 2014 commit before National Signing Day 2013.
I would think that the above quotes might be dependent on who might want to commit. Hard for me to believe that he would turn down a big-time recruit that he knows that he wants.I'm not sure the best place to share this, but I think this info might shed a little light on how Coach Meyer recruits.
Is the Ohio State staff California dreaming? Well, not quite. But they are recruiting the Golden State and at least one prospect they have been in contact with in the past month, safety Max Redfield, says he would like to make an official visit to Ohio State. Redfield was at one time a USC commitment. He is still interested in USC, but has also made official visits to Notre Dame and Washington. In addition to those three schools, Redfield is interested in Oregon and Ohio State.
Redfield has spoken with Tom Herman and Ed Warinner, but to this point the Buckeyes have not offered a scholarship nor asked him to make an official visit. But interestingly, in addition to saying he would like to make an official visit to Ohio State, Redfield adds that, ?If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be Ohio State.?
There is no doubt the Buckeyes? No. 1 target at safety is Vonn Bell. But Redfield?s name could come more prominently in play depending on what happens with Bell.
Redfield, who is from Mission Viejo, is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the No. 44 overall prospect, the No. 5 safety and No. 3 prospect in California.
