tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Think it hurts some of the pups, notably the LBs who don't have any real experience. Would guess it will be Marotti's team in December and they get an early start on offseason conditioning, hoping Adolphus/Schutt get in better shape and Spence puts on 10-15 of muscle. They are going to be key to our defensive success next year.

I can't wait to see the maturation of those guys, along with our young LBs. 9 LBs coming back next year that are frosh or sophomores. And hopefully bringing in at least mike Mitchell can be some serious depth for some years.

I would think it hurts the folks we already have.. much more than the recruiting
These new pups could really use the addl month of practice

Call me a dreamer, but I am imagining the seniors leading winter "11 on 11 drills.

For 7 on 7 drills in the summer, are they allowed to use the tOSU facilities?

tOSU has almost the entire month of December off under the semester system.

I don't think there's much doubt that there will be some player led activities that somewhat replace the bowl practices that are led by Braxton, Bryant and the other team leaders. Probably not as useful as bowl practices, but if guys are hungry they should be able to make real improvements over the winter.

Boasting the only 10-0 team in major college football has to be a huge boost in terms of recruiting. I mean seriously, what Ohio HS football coach wouldn't want this staff (particularly Urban Meyer) on their campus? Picking up some recruiting momentum during a bye week has to make the rest of the B1G cringe. I'm imagining Hokey, Dantonio, Pelini, O'brien and Beiliema speed dialing Delaney with tears in their eyes.

Coach Meyer is definitely making the great state of Ohio proud.

They already do. Now it's just salt in the wounds.

If they think this years team is good. Wait till the next two years when we can actually throw the ball. The defense can only improve as well. There is zero relief in sight for the big ten.

At first glance, it appeared the Ohio State coaching staff was using this bye week to bask in the glory of its team?s 10-0 start and as a good excuse to travel.

By late Sunday, offensive coordinator Tom Herman already was tweeting upon his arrival in Dallas. Receivers coach Zach Smith was in Washington, D.C., and one had to figure that assistant head coach Everett Withers was on his way to the Carolinas, while some of the others scattered to other corners.

Mark Pantoni, OSU?s director of player personnel, tweeted, ?Our coaches will be bringing the JUICE to 16 different states this week.?

By juice, he was referring to the sales pitch endorsed by Urban Meyer. At the start of this bye week, those assistants weren?t on vacation; they were recruiting. The Buckeyes are zeroing in on the final six to eight spots in the 2013 class while getting a head start on the 2014 class.

They?re also dealing from a position of strength, because even though the Buckeyes are not allowed to play in the postseason this year, they have quarterback Braxton Miller in the Heisman Trophy race, and they are gaining publicity for being undefeated.

Not generally, but he's never been very in tune with recruiting issues.

Just think if he's saying 6-8 then someone he trusts told him that, doubt he came up with that number on his own.

Urban doesn't want any over-signing label, the roster trimming likely will happen in Dec-Jan like last year. I'm sure they already know of some who won't be back.
