tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Anyone who thinks Urban doesn't close out this class with 85%+ of his desired choices just doesn't know history.
That might be true down the line, but not this year. The 2013 recruiting class is a weird year. Other coaches have been in other recruits' ears longer than we have been. The OL recruiting is proof enough.

I just know for sure that we will get most of our guys in the 2014 recruiting class.

We recruit so many kids it's kinda hard to tell who the priority recruits are.

I don't think we need to hit most our targets and it's not even possible with the amount we have, just don't like to miss on all our targets and take players that are a drop off.

Only can think of 1 so far this year and we could get a certain de-commit to get some elite talent at that position. I don't think the kid we got is bad, just think the kid we wanted before him was an obvious national prospect while he isn't.

Love this class so far. Really want 2 of Mitchell, Bell, Quick, Johnson and that would be a fabulous finish. Like Tyquan Lewis a lot too and would guess he's our next commit but who knows.

Beg to differ my friend. OL recruiting this year is not a reflection of the current staff but the prior. Bollman's record speaks for itself.

I never said it was a reflection on the current staff. With a change in the staff, I don't think it will be a reflection on Bollman's efforts coaching or recruiting either. All I said was the reason Urban and co couldn't reel in most OL prospects was because other coaches had been building relationships with them for a while until Urban showed up.

Pretty sure I would qualify Jalin Marshall as a playmaker, plus Elliott and Jacobs are definitely intriguing. That being said, we do need 1 more of Allen or Quick (or someone comparable).

While I would love to land a true number one receiver (and I believe Urban can), Oregon has never really had a dominant receiving threat and they've done okay. They aren't recruiting the same level of talent that Urban's bringing in and are a national powerhouse because of Kelly's system. Once Urban is comfortable with the players he has brought in, to go along with his offensive schemes, I think we'll be fine.

I tend to view both of these as valid points and factoring in to what Oregon has been able to do.

I tend to believe that actually participating directly in the rivalry ie. suiting up for one of the teams in The Game, practicing every day etc. leads to a better understanding and a greater intensity than one can appreciate as a fan. Each individual student athlete (regardless of which state they hail from) will approach the rivalry in their own way but every one of them is told from the second they step foot on campus that The Game is the most important game every year. How can an incoming frosh, or anyone for that matter, truly understand what it means until being part of it for themselves? The passion that most tOSU fans show toward tsun is arguably greater than any incoming frosh but, after spending 3-5 years in either program you realize that there is nothing equal to this rivalry in all of sports. The respect, intensity and history of The Game cannot be duplicated. I don't care if they spent their whole life oblivious to this rivalry as long as they get it while they're here.

Of course, that's just my 2 cents.
