Game Thread tOSU at NW'ern, Oct 5, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

I would amend what germ said to the following:

"There isn't a team left on tOSU's schedule with a WR/RB combination to do what the former walk-on did against OSU."

It wasn't just Abbycadabby, it was tOSU holding a team averaging nearly 400 on the ground to 100, thus allowing more in the pass game than you would typically see.

IU doesn't have the weapons to force tOSU to scheme around a single facet of the offense. Neither does Ped State.

Yes this is better.

Who are you talking to? I didn't say a word about domination. I've been watching the same games as everyone else, I presume. In CFB, having a dominant O and D the same season is rare. tOSU had a pretty dominant D under Tress. Fans complained about the offense. Under Urban, it seems to be headed the opposite way. It's to be expected, imo. Now instead of shutting down high powered offenses and winning 10-3, tOSU will slow down good offenses and win 45-33.

Wait, I'm kinda pissed that I'm just now finding out there have been other tOSU games on.

I feel like my entire life has been a lie.

With N'western, tOSU defense will have to play 'normally', rather than stuffing the box to shut down the run. Abberwhatsis did a tremendous job (as did the qb - Stave) to get free, and the qb to hit him quickly open or in the seam when the safety played his position, rather than selling out against the run. I'm thinking that the D-line will be rushing a bit harder to the QB this week, rather than occupying blockers and keeping an eye out for the running back (which they knew was coming). Makes a bit of a difference. Adolphus and Noah could have huge games, along with Bennett and Hale up the middle. Draws will probably work well for N'western, as tOSU's D-line has gained confidence. LB's will have to flow to the holes, or shoot them if they open up in front of them. Should be a 'run for your life' game for the N'western QB. Only problem will be tOSU D will get winded, as the O will score early and often, so subs will get some minutes in prime time to keep the starters fresh.

Go Bucks :banger:

Tresselball was constantly playing with fire against good teams as well by always keeping them within striking distance if the defense ever cracked.

Which fire is more fun/better to play with?

neither.

when you have the guy down, you need to kick him in the face to let HIM know that he is down.
not be a freaking gentleman and let him get back up.
this is a fight, not a boxing match. stop dancing around and finish him.

You sure know a lot more about football than the last two hacks. I can't believe they evern hired Urban. He only had two NC's! Wtf?

Headed out to Chitown tomorrow from Southern MO for the game. 10th row, 45 yard line. I hope to see a first class beat down up close. Looks like rain - forecast at 70% for the day. My 11 year old son could care less about the rain he is just ready to see the boys up close....the wife is not so pleased. "Honestly babe, what do you mean it isn't fun to sit in the driving rain just to watch a football game?"

If we get a steady dose of rain it probably hurts us a bit more as our passing game is surely superior. I'm just hoping the low turnover stat line continues. I believe we are doing fairly well at limiting turnovers this season. Continuing that trend is my biggest concern for Saturday.

Go Bucks!!

Prediction: OSU 48, NW: 35. They will score... we will score more. I see this as a solid 13-20 pt win. Cats are not as balanced of a team as Wisky, but their offense is more potent. Their defense won't be able to stop us.
BOLD Prediction: We score at least 45 points every game until we go bowling. No one scores more than 35 on us all year.

Really looking forward to this game. Good opponent. Will probably sucker Mark May into predicting an OSU loss again.
I see Northwestern trying to go after the secondary, both Roby and also Pitt (bull) Brown. As Arnold would say, "that would be a big mistake".

so hopefully that will lead to a pick or two.

If the ball is wet, I can see the Bucks losing a fumble, maybe, but it's okay if NW turns it over 2 or 3 times.

I believe in our offense but also in the defense just as much, and this week they have something to prove and someone to play for.

42-13 OSU.

So, you're implying that Urban and the staff went conservative in order to be "gentlemen." I find it hard to believe that anyone truly thinks it had anything to do with ANYTHING other than winning.

The Buckeyes were 2 penalties on Wisky away from potentially being down going into the 4th (Fumbled punt, fumble after facemask). Why risk anything? The strategy worked (again), minimizing mistakes maximized the potential to win.

Go back to last years game with Wisky. Roby did a good job against Abbrederis. Our D-line did a good job
with the pass rush then. Stave did not play in that game. And now Wisconsin has a better coach. So, there in lies the difference of Wisky then and Wisky now. That is the way I see it.

That's fine, but Roby can be easily ripped apart by a good coach and a slightly better QB? *shiver* I'd rather Roby play a smidge more conservatively to respect double moves... I think he went in thinking run run run (for good reason as that was likely the gameplan) but after the first burn, you have to be way more aware of Abbricadabra's abilities.

Leaving for vacation tomorrow and won't be back until the 21st. Keys to the game on O: Score fast, often and don't stop. D: Discipline on the edges, get to the qb and don't give up the big play in the secondary. Know they will test Von Bell early. Final prediction: tOSU 42 NW 28. Will hopefully be watching from my hotel room and if not then a bar (don't want to blow all my funds on booze) FUCK MICHIGAN AND O-H!!!!
