I'm drunk so take pitty on me and don't neg me too bad...(btw I find my typing to be amazing right now for some reason considering my conditions)

I'm sorry but we will not go undefeated this year. This defnese if horrible. Like said before my post something will change after this year.

Bottom Line this defense is god awful. Defensive line if overrated, LB's not up to standards and Secondary all I can do is laugh. Nate Williams did not play today and I know that In my captain morgan state because I REFUSE to believe that this defense did not get 1 sack against a hapless Indiana team.

Sleep it off.

Honestly, our linebacking corps and safeties have to be better than at least half the Big Ten (especially considering how [Mark May]ty the BIG is right now). There is no reason we cannot play press coverage without elite talent, when the Purdues and MSUs of the world can. I think press coverage would probably help disguise their flaws more than revealing them. Tough for a receiver to beat you deep when you jam him at the line.

1.) On what basis do you make the bolded claim?
2.) The defenses across the conference are so bad that even if that claim is correct, it's damning them with the faintest of praise.
3.) I don't measure the adequacy of Ohio State's defense by the standard set by other teams in the conference. I measure it by the standard set by past Ohio State defenses.

Gotta agree with daddy. We give up 49 points to Indiana and its the refs fault? :roll1:

Sorry, but that's taking ref whining to the extreme. We have issues.

Purely frustration, but there were some big calls that were so unbelievably horrible, it drove me to completely stop watching the game.

But after the blunder in the Stanford-ND game, and the questionable INT overturn, the onside kick (which was initially a penalty), and the overturn on the Hyde TD, I'm just as fed up with officials as I am with how the defense played.

Is it really Fickell though? He's been here for so long and presided, although indirectly, over one of the great periods of OSU defense under Tressel. There are many new additions who maybe just aren't suited to the staff. Again, no names, but something Urban is undoubtedly mulling over.

I think Heacock overrode what Fickell did. Under Heacock last year, despite being 6-7, the defense was not this bad.

Well we saw how well the 2-headed Galen Hall/Jay Paterno monster worked at PSU on offense...personally I have no idea why any HC would have co-coordinators on either side of the ball...it's just asking for trouble.

When I originally saw that from Meyer I always thought of it as an insurance policy. If things don't work with Fick....move to the other "co-dc".

I got the impression it was Urban's way of trying to throw some loyal Buckeyes (fans, players, and coaches) a bone because it was a rebuilding and observe year, plus it put a little less pressure on figuring out the coaching staff at that particular time. He did seem more comfortable with Fickell than Vrabel in their respective positions, but I think they're both in equally turbulent waters now. Withers isn't sitting well with me, though, knowing he is evidently the proponent for the generous cushions we're seeing.

It does seem like a pre-determined failure, we'll unfortunatley just have to see how it shakes out.

What sucks is I love Luke Fickell and what he has done for OSU. There is no way he is back next year. This defense has enough talent to keep opponents to >24 points. We might as well start talkin about who is gonna run our defense because Urban realized (already has said as much) that this is not OSU defense.

At the rate Nebraska is going, Bo Pelini may be available. :paranoid:

That is true, but the teams we are playing against currently ARE in the Big Ten. We might not be able to throttle them like past OSU defenses would, but it would at least be better than what we have now. It's all relative. The offenses we are facing in the BIG this year are also no where near as good as previous offenses we have faced. And honestly, try it for a change. That's why we have games against Indiana and Purdue and NW and Minny, throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks when something isn't working.

My $0.02.
