What are his good deeds? Chopping off foreskins with a camera crew in tow and telling Sunday school kids that they will go to hell unless they believe in his particular brand of Christianity.

Are Lewis and Roethlisberger bad guys? Sure. And Timmy is a self-promoting, publicity hungry, religious zealot asshole. I don't have to like him, and I sure as [Mark May] don't have buy into the whole "he's who you would want your son to grow up to be bull[Mark May]." Is Timmy to blame for the media? Yes. He has done nothing to silence the cult that has built up around him and to the contrary he and his backwoods parents have done everything to stoke and milk it for everything it's worth.

[censored] him. The sooner this NFL experiment ends and he's on the Christian Chitlin' circuit pancaking checks for inspirational speeches that I will not have forced down my throat the better.

You anger with religion clouds much of what you say at BP. Shame.

I'm not even a Tebow fan, but this is ridiculously unfair. You act like the guy is out stealing money from homeless people. He has his beliefs and answers questions honestly when people talk to him. The fact that he reached a significant amount of success in football combined with the hype-machine known as ESPN is why it's in your face all the time. He doesn't have to and should not tell people to not like him or "silence the cult" if they want to become a fan of his.

And as far as Tebow not being who you would want your son to become, I think that you could do a hell of a lot worse. Arrest-free, drug-free, Heisman trophy winner, National Champion, college graduate (regardless of degree), 1st round draft pick, and a philanthropist.

Yeah, what a shame :roll1:

Give me a fucking break. We see you're jealous because a guy who has half the IQ of yours is making millions while proselytizing in a way you're uncomfortable with. (Or at least, that's the vibe you give off, ORD.) But Roethlisberger and Lewis are bad human beings, and that's one thing one definitely cannot say about Tebow.

Whatever you think about his faith, he has done a number of good things for the less fortunate - and few people over the past few years have been less fortunate than Broncos fans.
careful. it's starting to become mainstream to like Timmy.

Some days are better than others. Today was a great day, because when I woke up, I wasn't Marion Barber III.

Man, that was gut-wrenching.

The fumble in OT was bad, but running out of bounds with less than 2 minutes to go, with Denver out of timeouts was worse. The Bears could have just fallen down and punted, and Denver would have had the ball inside their own 20 with less than 30 seconds left and no timeouts. Instead, Barber allows himself to get shoved out of bounds, giving Denver almost a minute to get the game-tying FG in regulation.

A long flight home for Marion Barber III.

Look I'm not sporting any tats here, but for those with so much blind hate for no apparent reason (mind you, I am speaking of hating the person, not the media hype, which everyone hates), I invite you to look at Trent Dilfer's 2000 season for Baltimore...he played 8 games for a team that won the Super Bowl. He was 7-1 as a starter in those 8 games. His numbers were just epic:

28 throws a game, 1502 yards, 59.3% completions, 12 TDs, 11 INTs, QB rating 0f 76.6

Tim Tebow's last 8 games, where he is 7-1 as a starter (includes his relief appearances, I'm too lazy to subtract them):

24 throws a game, 1290 yards, 48.5% completions, 11 TDs, 2 INTs, QB rating of 83.9...He has also tossed in over 500 yards rushing and 3 TDs

The point of this comparison is...what is a successful QB? Will Tebow ever be Tom Brady? Uh, no, not in a million years...but Trent Dilfer won a SB playing to his defense and handing the ball off, and he turned the ball over way more than Tebow does in just his second year. There's no reason to believe he has to fail because QBs have won Super Bowls playing worse football than he is playing right now. If he gets better, he wil be a decent to good QB...not bad for someone everyone more or less agreed couldn't make it at all.

As a Bears fan, I watched the game today with a great deal of interest.

Let's get a few things straight, the Bears offense today was legendarily bad - Hanie, Barber, Bears offensive line, and Bears WRs = awful. The Broncos defense, offensive line, and everyone not named Tebow played very well and have been playing great since Tebow got in the lineup. If I am a player not named Tebow on the Broncos I would be [censored] about how little credit my teammates not named Tebow are getting. Tebow is not winning these games by himself. Many times the Broncos are winning or staying in games in spite of Tebow. He was worse than Hanie in the first three quarters and that says a ton.

From an objective perspective, Tebow does four things very well
1. He doesn't turn the ball over
2. He gives defenses a lot to think about
3. He's clutch and plays his best at the end of games
4. His teammates play great when he is playing and other teams inexplicably get hurt, make stupid plays, or just play plain awful when they play him.

Tebow deserves some of the credit, but certainly not all of it. Being down 10-0 to Caleb Hanie at any point is not a good sign. I don't care anything about his personal life. His numbers will regress once he finally plays a healthy good team - see the Steelers or Ravens in the playoffs. He may be here to stay as a starting qb in the NFL though.

I do, and I for one will revel in their demise.

The thing is, most QBs suck in their first dozen or so games as a starter. The thing Tebow haters did NOT want to see was any kind of improvement. He sure as hell ain't Aaron or Tom, but he is actually a better QB now than he was eight games ago. The important thing - to me - is that he has not been sucking any worse than most first time starters suck. It is nonsense to say that he will be a sure lock pro-bowl player. But it seems equally nonsensical to still maintain that Tim does not have the skill set to be a success (if you give him a couple years to work on his footwork, timing and reads) in the NFL. No matter what he does the rest of the year, the folks that were sure that he was going to be a laughingstock of a loser at QB in the NFL were shown to be wrong.

He may never be one of the better QBs, but I think he has more than passed the mark that many here set for him at the start of the season (granted, those expectations were abysmal).
