Okay, ESPiN (yes, I still sometimes watch with salt grain firmly in hand) showing clip of Tebow giving his "No one will push harder, etc." speech.

ESPiN anchorman followed it with: "He then climbed into a tree and saved a kitty."

I'm easy--it made me laugh. Go Timmy.

Pregame didn't last five minutes before I was reminded (instructed) that Tim Tebow is who I would like my son to grow up to be.

Ummm, No.

  • I don't want my son to become a narcissistic, religious zealot.
  • I don't want my son to score 890 on his SAT.
  • I don't want my son to--instead of taking advantage of an excellent university and challenging himself--hide out in a home economics major.
  • I don't want my son to be a 24 year old virgin.
  • I don't want my son to circumcise Filipino children for the benefit of the accompanying cameras.

I wouldn't want a son to grow up to be Ben Roethlisburger, but I sure as shit wouldn't want him to become Tim Tebow either.

So are Ray Lewis and Ben Roethlisberger. NFL money will do that for you....at least until you piss it all away by age 45.

Point is, I don't have to like any of them, much less be expected to model my expectations for my children after them and resent being told otherwise by some sports channel talking head.
