His car ran over a fire hydrant sign him up for destruction of public property. Sure his lawyer could say he is not going to talk to you without a lawyer present. However that is not what happened here based on the stories, according to the stories, first visit they were told by his wife he was sleeping, second time his agent says they are both unavailable for the police to talk to. If it was me or you or any other average joe they would have gotten a warrent of some type by now to at least question one if not both of them.
Couldn't be more wrong. Its not destruction of public property if its unintentional. At most right now, it would be "failure to control", which is a minor misdemeanor traffic ticket. In the real world, they don't arrest people or issue warrants for that sort of thing.
Now, the reports indicate that he could have been driving under the influence of pain medication, which is also a misdemeanor in most states OR his wife could have committed domestic violence, which is also a misdemeanor in most states.
If it was your or me, they'd present what they have to a prosecutor, who would determine if the evidence supported charges. If the prosecutor determined that the evidence supported charges, a summons would be issued for Tiger or his wife to appear in Court for an arraignment hearing. If the prosecutor determined there wasn't enough evidence, the police would have to go out and determine if they can obtain evidence to support a charge. For most people, the prosecutor's decision that the evidence doesn't support a charge would be the end of it unless someone wanted to pursue it. No appears to want to pursue it, so it probably will amount to nothing.
The only reason more may come of this is BECAUSE Tiger is a celebrity. If he was just some regular joe, he would either be charged or the matter would be concluded. I'm guessing they don't have any evidence to support charges either way, except a minor misdemeanor traffic ticket - which is not a big deal.
But either way, neither Tiger nor his wife have to make a statement. Its amazing to me how poorly uninformed the public is on this issue..
