Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

And that's exactly the way the public will always continue to see it. Nothing is going to change that perception. Tiger will never make a statement about it. His wife will never make a statement about it. There will be no charges.

And a year from now, after Tiger has won another major or two, no one will care.

And when Tiger and Elin get a divorce it will be just another celebrity marriage fail.

911 tape to be released soon.

This should be interesting. 911 tapes rarely disappoint.

BTW, the only reason these tapes are even being released is because Tiger is a celebrity. For an average joe, they rarely even pull those tapes for a misdemeanor.

So, yeah, celebrity special treatment. Just not the kind of special treatment we would want to receive in the same situation.

Tiger Woods is, arguably, the #1 professional athlete in the world. Until this "incident", there probably were not too many folks that had even heard of the affair rumors (and the people that did probably "disregarded" it due to the slimeball tabloid source). Infidelity in the pro sports world is almost expected in our day and age. That rumor in itself would probably have blown over without any real lasting effects.

Now, enter in the MVA (pulling out of your own driveway at 0230) - under suspicious circumstances - physical evidence not matching up with inital statements - and "lawyering up" and not making any more statements (so as to not incriminate yourself). Just add in the 24 hour media cycle, and you have a PR disaster in the making. Remember, the average life span of a media story nowadays is about 2 -4 hours. We are now on day number 3, with no signs of a let-up. Everyone loves a "train wreck".

Come out of hiding, work with law enforcement, tell the truth, and win a few majors, then I agree that most folks will forget about this. Stay in hiding, lie, continue a perceived "cover up", and the train wreck just gets that much more interesting. That becomes the little black cloud that follows you for a long time (loss of credibility). This is a PR disaster in the making, and the disaster is occuring between his PR Team and Legal Team.

Right or wrong, Tiger was placed on a pedestal. He has used that pedestal to this full economic advantage (as most of us would do). The scorn of a hot Viking bitch using a 9 iron is trying to knock him off. If that isn't irony...

Man, am I glad I'm no celebrity. Juice ain't worth the squeeze, by a long shot.

Tell you what, give me Tigers money and this whole board and every other person on the globe can sit around and make fun of me for the old lady whipping my ass for all I care.

I'll get with my publicist and figure out a way to make another shit ton of money off it and donate it to male victims of domestic abuse.

All of us poor folk have drama in our lives and I know plenty of broke ass individuals who get into domestic violence cases. I fail to see the upside to them not having the money.

I doubt this will tarnish Tiger much. As ugly as the Kobe Bryant legal affair was, he seems to have recovered in the public eye. And as soon as Tiger goes out and wins a few more majors, the hero worshippers will probably continue their hero worship...sad, but that's the way it is.

And why would he be tarnished...nothing nefarious has been proven yet right?

And don't get me started on the Kobe Bryant legal affair...bunch of bullshit that it was.

I know the public doesn't like it, but it really is a private matter.

If he says it was an adverse reaction to some prescription pain medication that cause him to pass out, no one will believe it because its not juicy enough. If he comes out and says his wife beat him with graphite-shaft iron, then he puts her in legal trouble. Like it or not, that's his personal decision how he deals with that. Which is more important? His marriage? Or the public's sense of entitlement?

His endorsements are going to take a hit under either scenario. But he's still going to be the best golfer in the world and make a lot of money under either scenario. I wish I had those kindo of options.

It will probably go away a lot quicker if he simply comes out as say, "It's a private matter and I'll pay my fine for hitting the fire hydrant."

Bottom line: he may or may not have had an affair; his wife may or may not have assaulted him; either way, I'm baffled why the public believes they are "entitled" to hear about it.

"I have to run to Zales to get a 'Kobe Special.'"

I don't know whether to laugh or vomit.

TMZ does a great job with sources. But if you were that close of a friend with Tiger Woods, would you really ruin that by blabbing to some internet tabloid? Almost makes the report tough to believe.
