The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

The fact that no main character was offed was totally fine by me. Since there is always a major death near the end of a season, it was almost a surprise not to have one. The only thing I am really pissed about is how quickly the Terminus arch will be disintegrated. The whole cannibal twist is really interesting (way more than Woodbury was imo) and I agree that there is no way it can drag on too long. Honestly that was more intriguing than anything I've seen so far but it all went south immediately. I also didn't like Joe's entire group going down at once. It was an awesome scene no doubt, but that whole thing evaporated too quickly.

I too am curious as to what they were working on in the factory? Looks like more advertising for their trap. Also, everyone wants to know what happened to Beth, including me. And finally, I really want to know who was screaming for help.

I enjoyed the episode, but that could be because I'm used to this show serving up crap sandwiches every Sunday. That was NOT a cliffhanger at the end. Cliffhangers keep you wondering and waiting to find out what happens next but we already know the group is locked in a rail car and the obvious is that Rick is pissed off. My buddy and I were laughing at the end of that episode because Rick's little speech made it sound like he had some masterful plan or that something was in the works to save them so we were just waiting for him to drop a bombshell and all we got was "they messed with the wrong people." I gotta tell you if I was in that car I would have slapped Rick upside the head for building up some dramatic speech to end with that. Like really dude? Because in reality it looks like they messed with the wrong people.

I also pretty much agree with what others have said. Joe's group, while a cool scene, cut them out of the show way too abruptly. CARL's little chat with Michonne was irrelevant and no one knows wtf he was even talking about. The only thing I am really curious about right now is the location of Tyrese, Carol, Judith, and Beth (which could have been touched on in the finale if it was longer than an hour with 30 mins of commercials) as well as who was screaming for help in the bar cars that they ran by when being herded.

Kirkman seems to have alluded that Tyrese and Carol were not captured yet, so they're not in the other cars it seems. He said they're going to do something interesting with those two.
I figured it wasn't them, that would be weird (even for the show) to do all that with showing them and then have them be captured entirely off camera. Beth on the other hand is a possibility...any other people we've see that are missing? I can't think of any. One wonders why "the eaten dude" that Carl wanted to help was out there in the first place...was he a Termite? Or escaping from them? Random person?

By in large, if these Termites are cannibals, then that guy that got bit on the tracks telling them to "take the children" either didn't know or was one Pol Pot-ish fuckwit (or the story arc made no sense, which is entirely possible).

Does it strike anyone else as completely retarded to turn people into cattle? I get turning a group of travelers that stumble into town into dinner, but to waste limited resources to fatten them up before you eat them makes no sense. It isn't like stuffing food down their throats for a couple weeks will add any extra meat. Must like their Rick well marbled. Don't even get me started on wasting 500 bullets to herd them to a train car.

At least Maggie should be safe as long as they have train car full of cereal that needs milk.

I think it was a random guy...it's been a bit since we've seen someone get eaten by a zombie, so there was that. But really I think it was just to add to the whole "we've turned into monsters" angle.

moreover, I find it hard to imagine that walkers haven't managed to wander themselves over there yet, so that the termites feel safe putting all their guys along the outer fence while leaving the front door wide open apparently. so, a roaming gang of about 200 walkers could just follow some people and stroll on in there one day, while sniper joe tries to pick them off one at a time. who knows, maybe they have a whole bunch of hershel shotguns sitting around so it won't be a problem.

I'm not buying the organized cannibals angle. They have a compound, an organization, plenty of supplies... and not one of them has decided that it's fucked up to cook and eat people? At least in the comics, it was a small nomadic group. But this is a smart, thoughtful group of people who are expertly herding refugees into the camp via the railroad tracks, signs, radio... and seemingly infinite amounts of ammunition.

Look, I know you've got to suspend disbelief for any television show involving the zombie apocalypse, but that's a bit ridiculous. If you want to understand ordinary, civilized human beings forced to resort to cannibalism, I suggest you study the rugby team that crashed in the Andes back in the 70s. They didn't want to eat people. Prayed about it. Plenty objected. And, in the end, decided they had no choice and that they would die if they weren't willing to eat the already dead.

How do you explain the bones? Bodies just don't decompose to the bone like this.

I think the answer is that they've altered the comic storyline a bit, which they always do. Also, as we saw from the Terminus cult room, if the Termites don't trust people...why would they be telling everyone to come to Terminus for "sanctuary" if theres no sanctuary there? If you don't trust someone, don't you want to keep them as far away from you as possible...unless you're using them for food. If the Terminus people wanted Rick, Michonne, Daryl, and Carl dead, why were they herding them towards the boxcars? They obviously weren't trying to actually shoot them, they only shot at their feet. Where would the Termites get their meat if it's not people? As far as the ammunition, it would be easy to stockpile a good quantity of it if you're trapping every hapless traveler that comes to Terminus.
