The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Getting a little annoyed with teasing off the death of main characters at the end of episodes when they clearly should have died. But I think that undoubtedly will not be the case next weekend. Not a terrible episode but definitely had some classic "wtf" moments. Really excited to see the Neegan character though.

It looked like the piece was aimed at his neck/head area from that angle. Could've (probably will be) his shoulder, I guess.
I am assuming he capped him in the shoulder or thereabouts, he likely isn't dead yet. But yeah, they have teased main deaths for a season and a half...and will probably tease again next week.

Not sure how I felt about this episode, I imagine it will depend on how they close it out.

I know how I feel about the episode. It sucked.

At this point, they know they didn't eradicate the Saviors. They know there are many more out there and they aim to attack Alexandria. Carol leaves. Eh, it doesn't really fit with her character arc, but they've been building to this for a couple episodes so I'll give that a pass. Then Daryl, who blames himself for Denise, leaves... to do what? Take on the Saviors by himself? No, he's not that stupid. Then Glenn, Michonne, and Hot Latina leave... to chase Daryl. So they can what? All 4 take on the Saviors with no plan, thus leaving Alexandria vulnerable?

Then the kicker.... Rick leaves. His compound, of which he is ostensibly the leader, is about to be under attack... but fuck it, he decides to just leave the walls and his people to chase one person.

It's ridiculous. The Saviors have looked relatively incompetent but the incompetence we saw from Rick and his people in yesterday's show just breaks off the scale. I'm about done with this show.

I agree completely about the incompetence of spreading everyone out. It's bad enough to do it in open territory, but to go to a heavily wooded area that you know is crawling with people that outnumber you is just stupid. Then they split up, which is even worse. So I am glad to see that the Alexandrians aren't running roughshod over the Saviors anymore, but it shouldn't be due to being more incompetent.

On the other hand, I'll play devils advocate to my own position and say that the reason this group is an apocalyptic supergroup is that they have large personalities and egos. Much like watching the Cavs and other "super teams", that can lead to bad things such as some people leaving and others thinking they are more than they are. Maybe that's where the Alexandrians lose their edge. Ricks speech in the sack with Miss Kitana was full of Jerry Jones-like arrogance, maybe that's where they are going with it.

i don't know if it is entirely that in-depth. really, i think it was just a way to line up a group of people to get captured so Negan can introduce Lucille.

That's exactly what it looked like to me. They have great source material but they shouldn't bind themselves to it by making the group look disorganized and feckless.

I'm sure the response will be that it just shows that these people are"human" and prone to human emotions and mistakes when it comes to one of their own instead of some brilliant quasi-military powerhouse. but nevertheless, at least the Asian guy knew better and tried to talk them out of it.

I didn't have much time to go into it but totally agreed on everyone leaving the compound with zero plan in store. Darryl was hot-head prone to some senseless acts toward the beginning of the show but he has evolved beyond walking into a dangerous group of people with a cross-bow. And for what? I could understand if it was Carol, who he developed a deep personal bond with (or one of the earlier characters)...but what was there about Denise that made him do that?

Now I could maybe understand Tera doing that but speaking of her, what happened to her? They have not showed her in forever it seems.

And I could even see one or two people in the group being that stupid but not everyone. I get they are trying to set up an epic moment in having someone be captured to get the death blow, but I could think of a thousand ways to have the capture go down without everyone going full-blown idiot. Still really interested in the final to see the Negan scene but after some really good episodes, this was a letdown.

The actress who plays Tara was pregnant when filming, so they likely wrote her out until she delivered is my guess.

The thought process is that Darryl is wishing he had just killed those douchebags in the forest.....and now he's doing anything he can to right that wrong. Stupid....but that seems like what they're going for.
