The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

At least Daryl got his bike back.

And on the plus side, we'll probably see half of Dwight's face burnt off (since he's the one who took Daryl's bike initially).

After Glenn was staring at the polaroids, I'm back to leaning towards him getting "Lucille'd".

And "Virginia is for Lovers" (Many people will be trying to make acorn and beet cookies now).

Yeah it was a great episode for action and pacing, though I too find the timing of Carols second thoughts puzzling...especially when she was protecting pregnant Maggie. Of all the times she would go soft, this seems like the least likely. But, in the end, they did what they had to do. I guess they're all starting to question Morgan's seeming dumbassedness?

I thought the "I am Spartacus" of Negins group was a nice touch...explains how he can conceal his identity until the final episode.

It doesn't look like the Saviors will strike again next week...maybe the next 2 will be quieter until the finale.

Also, one thing I saw that got tied up from last week...Morgan, when welding, was creating a new cell...you could see Rick standing in front of it in the previews for next week.

Really, really good episode. This show is back in full force imo. Plenty of action with plenty of character and plot development. I thought Carrol was faking everything before she killed them all until she saw Darryl and broke down. Her storyline has been fun to watch, although I get the feeling she'll be looking at the flowers soon.

Nothing except speculation, but I'm wondering if Negan doesn't kill two major characters? I get the vibe that Glenn and Carrol are about to go down.

Final note, I was a tad bummed to see the redhead go down so fast. Her character was intriguing.

Great episode. Most of their slow episodes like this, I have a hard time watching. But Carroll made this episode great. The room they lit on fire with Negan's crew was one of the more brutal kills I've seen.

Here is my question, since the season finale brought tears to the crew, who's going to get meet Lucille? My money is on you know who because of obvious reasons.

Ahead of tonight's episode, I'll just say I have read some rumors about the finale...that it might be a piss-off-the-world cliffhanger. They are just rumors, of course. But what I read was that the final fade-to-black will be someone receiving the business end of Lucille...from the POV of the victim, thus disguising the identity of the victim until Season 7.

Goddamnit I hated this episode...and not because it was badly filmed. I'll wait until tomorrow to say more in case people are still watching, but there were 2-4 things that just pissed me off.

OK, so last night’s episode sucked a big fat one to me, on numerous levels. As I said, I don’t think it was filmed badly, the arrow going through the head was one of those ECW crowd “Holy Shit” moments, and the look on hot Latina’s (HL) face made it work (OK, any look at HL’s face makes anything work, but that’s beside the point). However, here’s what I hated:

I will admit post-haste that I don’t know anything about other filming commitments, contracts, or the like. So this particular comment could be mostly null and void. But that said…if it was the writers who decided to kill off the doctor, then it was a really, really dumbfuck idea. I mean an epically dumbfuck idea. I think she and Jesus are the most interesting new characters to be introduced since we got Maggie and Herschel on the farm, way, way before both characters jumped the shark. Why go to all the trouble to show her struggling with becoming the complex’s doctor? Why the entire thing with the FUTG? Why build up her relationship with Tara? If all they were going to do was knock her off as part of the undercard to bring back Dwight vs. Darryl, they could have used that screen time to develop one of the other characters that was going to stick around for a while. As an actress, I think she gets nuance way more than almost any of the others do, which is what made her interesting. Terrible person to lose on the show, in my IMO. Speaking of which…

The whole Carol thing is just not believable. I’m sorry, it just isn’t. I get it, killing is hard, and I can imagine that one’s conscience might play tricks on you. I know that combat soldiers say that what you have to do haunts you. I get all that, I really do. But this is the woman that everyone describes (including on TD) as the “Queen of the Apocalypse”. She put a bullet in a sociopathic kid’s head. Yet it didn’t seem to bother her all that much then. She tried to kill Morgan because he kept the FUTG. All the time she was in Alexandria, she was the duplicitous wife on a 50’s TV show, with Rambo underneath. It took 5 seasons for her to fully evolve to this point. 5. Entire. Seasons. And now we’re supposed to believe that she finds one crucifix on a dead woman, and all of a sudden she is a cross between Morgan and Mother Theresa? And that she would just bail? And let’s look at that, she just bailed…how does that make any sense? She knows the Saviors are out there, and she knows that all the other groups in the area are subjugated by them. Where in the exact fuck is she thinking she is going to go to avoid killing and confrontation? Speaking of which…

That brings me to the latest installment of “yeah right”. So Dwight is apparently being built as a useless twat that can’t get out of his own way, complete with a burnt face and one liners like Abraham. OK, fine. But, this is the group that we are supposed to believe has subjugated all of the other groups in the area with a combination of power and fear, right? Yet, we have 12-15 heavily armed people in their group, all of them with guns pointed at HL and Darryl. One guy goes to look for Abraham, he shoots, and everyone immediately…freezes and does nothing, allowing enough time for HL and Darryl to re-arm themselves and Eugene to execute the Bite of Doom (I am not even going to comment on that, the comments write themselves). Then, they all fall back when there are still twice as many of them as there were Alexandrians, and they all had guns. So basically, they were an overwhelming force that led to HL and Darryl surrendering, and all it took for them to turn into the French Army was a dick bite and 2 shots by one guy. I was afraid this was going to happen with the Saviors, and it is happening already. Yes, I’m sure Negan will be a badass. But so was the Governor, really…but the writers will not allow any other group to be stronger, or even as strong, as Rick’s group. So far they have easily outsmarted and either wiped out or driven back superior numbers of Saviors on 3 separate occasions. Savior victories? 1 doctor…on a sneak attack. This is the Hunters and Woodbury all over again. It will just last longer.

I won’t even comment on the one-liners right after they brought back the dead doctor’s body, or their attempt to transform Eugene, or Carol’s 30 second love life, or HL going sorority girl with what’s his nuts, or…

1. The doctor is dead in the comics. she's not part of the plot going forward. she got put down.
2. carol has been dead in the comics for quite some time. there's just nothing much left to do with her character arc, which is why she's apt to bite it in the season finale.
3. of all the improbable battle sequences, escapes, and baffling combat behavior over the last 6 years on the show, last night didn't really register that high on the get the hell out here scale for me.
4. I think you're going to have to wait until season 7 to see the full strength of the saviors before assuming they're going to be totally emasculated.

About the Carol thing......I get it. It's not just that she found the cross. I think it started when she pretended to be weak. Then the stupid kid with the bad haircut died. Then Morgan got to her. Then Maggie's pregnant. Then you find out she's been keeping score all along. It's been weighing on her for a while now.
