The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

My guess is that the initial error with this is in agreeing/offering to rescue the Hilltop guy being held by the Saviors. I would think that the only way Rick's small group wins would be to surprise them and completely wipe them all out. Of course, that's not what's going to happen, though, they'll introduce themselves, talk, try to negotiate, and make threats, etc. and then they'll get kicked in the balls. I get that it's a series and that it needs to somewhat follow the comic book storyline, BUT, why can't they ever learn from their mistakes? "Nuke the entire site from orbit...it's the only way to be sure."

I'll go a totally different direction and say they hit them and hit them hard...but that hardly anyone is actually there at the time. Hilltop Asshole is likely dead, so they have to report back that they didn't rescue the guy and didn't really kill anyone. Then the Saviors do some apefucking.

BTW for those that wonder why I am convinced it is Darryl biting the cosmic weenie, go back to that awkward [Mark May] with Dwight. They've been foreshadowing this for a while now.

Yeah, I think he's the one Negan knocks off with Lucille too. But I just hope he gets his bike back before then. You don't mess with another man's ride.

On a side note though, Glenn does eventually need to die. Maggie becomes the leader of the Hilltop and a prime reason why Gregory is executed (hung) is because of Glenn's death (by Negan) and Gregory's actions with Negan.

But the show doesn't need to follow the novel - says Paul Rovia (err Monroe).

I thought this episode was super good. They are clearly setting up a big episode next week but there was plenty of action this episode. Lots of great plot development and plenty of great scenes.

So as someone who has not read the graphic novels, is Negan a female? I guess I just haven't considered that yet. In any event, cool episode and I think the writers have really been redeeming this show in my eyes.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is playing negan.

I wish they hadn't let it out that he wasn't going to appear until the finale so that we could have actually gone into last nights episode thinking there would be some sort of confrontation.

To bad Mythbusters is done. I'd love to have them test to see how much force is needed to drive a knife into a skull.

So I thought it was a good episode, in terms of action, cinematography (the shooting in the compound I thought was especially good), and setting some things up. However…I can suspend disbelief about a lot of things, and as pointed out above, the pre-announcement (stupidly) that Negan doesn’t appear until the finale has something to do with this, but I can’t wrap my head around Rick being stupid enough to think they just waltzed in and killed the entire group in one sweep, and that the number of people was only about 12 (which looked to me to be about how many they killed). After all, there were almost as many in the biker gang that Darryl conveniently fricasseed with a rocket launcher. This is a group that is strong enough to result in the complete submission of other groups…after everything he’s dealt with, especially groups the size of the Governor’s, and the horrible actions of the Hunters, he can’t be this dense. Of course, the lid was entirely blown off of that anyway when the guy came rolling out on Darryl’s bike.
Also, they spend a lot of screen time setting up Carol’s rather awkward hookup…she was the last to copulate in As the Apocalypse Turns, I guess. So was that to set up his death…or hers? Have to figure it’s one or the other. With her present circumstance, I wouldn’t rule out her run coming to an end.
Finally…I guess they aren’t going to go light on the language used by Negan’s group for the censors

I didn't read the comics, so I know as much about Negans group as the show has given me.....but the swearing and the pictures of dead bodies seemed like a "it's OK that our group is killing these people in their sleep, because look how bad they are" move. And it seemed over the top. But I guess that's just how bad these people are? Maybe the show could've done a better job showing that......but then I guess you lose out on the intrigue of who they really are.

Could be, that would also explain the curious decision to devote so much camera time to showing all of the mangled body pictures on the wall, one by one. But I think the language is a comic thing, despite not reading them either.

they are every bit as bad as the show tried to portray them, and in fact worse. but i think you'll see a continuous build as to how bad they are until negan makes his appearance and introduces lucille.

I am somewhat making an assumption that all those photos on the wall of mangled heads were from Lucille's handiwork of living people...we will see soon I imagine.
