I know, unequivicobly that this can be handled by those outside of any government. The sad part is you and others thinking that the Feds make this better. Unbelievable actually. So, you think the church groups can help 12,800,000?
Seriously?

Which is proof that the government does not come close to getting it done. As for charity and community support, the cyclical and broken welfare program has created an expectation that it is Washington's responsibility to help the less fortunate, removing the urgency and tradition of the community to step in.There's no proof of that. Actually, just the opposite. Too many people in need right now. We're talking 12.5 million people!

Exactly. The family and community used to handle this - which was good because it also forced some level of responsibility. Govt programs struggle to do this because there are no ties that bind the recipient to the providerWhich is proof that the government does not come close to getting it done. Amazing that you think it's delusional that government intervention has transformed community and responsibility to it. I would argue that your viewpoint is part of the problem and is leading the charge for why the problem has grown larger under the Feds watch.Believing that in todays world of racial hatreds and conservative ideologies, that it's the governments fault, that the government removed the "urgency and tradition of the community to step in" is delusional and part of the problem. There is such diversity in churches and their thinking that I don't see how they could ever agree on a plan to help millions. But, you have your opinion and I have mind on the causes.
How do we fix that? How do we get past the "blame game" and help people in real need?
I think we tell our government what we want them to do as a plan. We make them more accountable to the people, not corporations and millionaires. There is a process in place for that. It's the voting booth. We have to believe in the process and get out and vote.

Sorry! Just a little humor.
