The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Just not a fan of how bad losses carry more weight with the committee than big wins--it rewards all the wrong kinds of behavior.

The question I'm wondering is whether Georgia got the pat on the back from the committee given that #5 vs. #6 is meaningless, or whether they really would've given Georgia the last spot if, say, ND had lost to USC in the season finale. if the answer to that is yes, then the committee should just be disbanded right now--a non-conference champ with two losses should never get in over a conference champ with only one loss, especially when that conference champ has better wins. That Georgia was ranked #5 and OSU ranked #6 is shameful enough--a lot of egg on the committee's face today, IMO.

This. It’s not even about Ohio State not making it. I haven’t once said Ohio State definitively belonged. Just the amount of hypocrisy in their “selection process” that needs to be appropriately criticized.

GA above OSU is a joke. The committee's rationale continues to bob around from year to year. In 2015 an OSU with one of the greatest collections of talent in CFB history, held back by a terrible offensive coordinator, but still only 1 close lose to a playoff team, misses out. But of course Alabama gets in last year without winning its conference.

* 8 team playoff
* All conference winners with 2 losses or less are automatically in. Conference winners w/3+ losses are evaluated as at-large and don't have to be selected.
* The remaining slots are at-large.
* Only one at-large team per conference may be selected. (to stop the dopes from stacking 3-4 SEC teams in the playoffs so we can repeat the SEC season)

The 9th conference game is another game against a Power 5 team. Instead of a 9th conference game Alabama played The Citadel. You telling me that doesn't make it easier to go undefeated?
First, the conference decided we play nine conference game instead of eight, not us. Second, we got criticized in the past for playing FCS teams (which the Citadel is), so we play FBS teams instead. And playing top-notch OOC teams is good for the resume. But, to continue pounding the original point, it wasn't what we did against OOC teams the last two seasons but what we did against mediocre in-conference opponents. We take care of business against those teams we should care of business against, then we're not having this discussion...it's not the fault of the schedule.

The exact problem with the uneven standards held by Power 5 conferences. The Big Ten gets all of the shit for scheduling FCS teams, so they go away from it and still suffer because of it. The SEC and ACC continue to do so, with no stopping it anytime soon and.... GOOD TO GO! :lol: Fuck that shit.

I'm not saying the SEC and ACC should get a pass for playing FCS or shitty FBS teams. I'm saying our schedule is not what's keeping us out but rather our shitting the bed against teams we should be pounding into submission...teams which we're going to play anyways, regardless of OOC schedule.

But the criteria early on in the CFP’s lifecycle indicated SOS would be a decently large determining factor, and the Big Ten attempted to adapt. And now they suffer from being one of the few conferences to do so, while other conferences don’t do shit.

The notion that we ran a gauntlet as compared to those other teams is bullshit. Put down the feelz and look at the stats.

And, no small matter, none of those teams got blown out by fucking Purdue. :roll1:

Just, no.

We played 11 power 5 conference teams in the regular season. Bama played 9. There's no comparison in the wear and tear on your team. We'd be in right now without the big ten adding a 9th conference game.

Yes but a one loss OSU doesn’t get in no matter who or by how many
Nope. See 2014. We lose to Purdue by a TD or less, and we don't drop near as far as we did after the 29-point loss, and thus less ground to make up. Instead of being #10 going into The Game we're probably #7 or #8, and just might have jumped Oklahoma after The Game.
