The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

The pretending that there are only 2 teams better than ND is completely laughable

score 12 points against a Louisville team that got destroyed by Georgia Tech who just lost a game 73-7 a week after having a hell of a time against a mediocre FSU team.

Gonna need one of them bum ACC schools to step up and actually beat them

Yeah, that's been my issue for years. The loser of a game like Bama vs. UGA drops only 1 slot based off pre-rank alone, not the quality of play during the actual game, while the loser of the OSU vs. PSU game next week will drop 4-5 slots (maybe more) even if it's a well-played, one possession result in the end. Besides one half of football against Bama, UGA has shown me nothing that resembles a team worthy of a top-5 ranking. They have beaten the over-ranked Auburn Tigers and Tenn Vols.

The fact that ND and UNC were both up there last week and ND all the way up to #3 after beating a hapless L'ville team by 5 while only scoring 12 points (I don't care how bad the wind was supposably) this week is just silly.
‘Cept I’m beginning to see just three programs, Clemson, Alabama, and the Buckeyes, capable of winning the CFP. The drop off after that is enormous.

yeah, I anticipate that being the case, but OSU hasn't played a game yet so I'll wait to put them in with the other two after the trip to Slappy Valley. Based off talent alone? Yes. New year, new team. I hope they are as good as we all think they can be. Should be fun to watch.

What's up with Ohio State moving past Notre Dame after the Fighting Irish had their most impressive victory of the season, against Pittsburgh?

Remember, the Buckeyes were No. 2 in the preseason and a close second to No. 1 Clemson.

When the Big Ten postponed its fall season, Ohio State and the rest of the conference's teams became ineligible for inclusion in the rankings. Then the Big Ten decided to play in the fall after all, and those teams became eligible again. But some voters decided they would wait until teams played before being considered for inclusion.

That held back the Buckeyes and some other Big Ten teams for a few weeks. Now that all the voters are including Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, et al., those teams got an extra boost this week.

Agreed. Both polls have the top 3 right and it really doesn't matter much after that.

I feel better about poll bitching once they are clear of Happy Valley with a win.

There had to be one remaining AP clown

Tom Green, naturally from the "Alabama Media Group"

https://collegepolltracker.com/football/pollster/tom-green/2020/week-8

Has Ohio State #16 in this weeks edition

He has

BYU #4
North Carolina #10 (Nevermind their 1 loss is to a terrible FSU team)
Coastal Carolina #12
Liberty #14
Marshall #15

11 'extreme" rankings in total.

Super happy for Fick.

I’m not surprised of course. Cincy better enjoy him while they can.

He gone.

Maybe that comes from being a 44-year-old husband to Amy and father of six kids, from his devotion to family, strong Catholic faith and deep roots in Ohio. Really deep roots. Here’s a guy who has never lived anywhere but Ohio - never left Ohio for college, never left Ohio for work. Except for playing and coaching, he might have never stepped foot out of the Buckeye State, period. (30 Aug 2017) https://www.wcpo.com/sports/college...rtainly-not-family-faith-or-his-football-team

I'm not 100% sure of that. Just read all of the entire article (above). He had a chance to go Sparty and turned it down. I think his family is very happy in Cincinnati; and he knows a good thing when he sees it (i.e. financial stability and coaching longevity) and realizes that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. He currently makes an annual salary of $3.4M (before incentives) in Cincinnati and (undoubtedly) realizes that he really wouldn't be any better of financially making $5M to $6M a year in California, etc. He's from Ohio, knows Ohio, and recruits well in Ohio. If he runs the table and gets at least a New Year's Six bowl, some more Power 5 Conference school offers (probably) will come, but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns them down too.

This is by ESPN writers so you know who they are biased for/against....

It will be interesting to see how the Clemson (without Lawrence) at Notre Dame pans out. Based on how Clemson played BC at home this weekend, I'd expect Notre Dame to win. Then Notre Dame would still be undefeated and Clemson probably wouldn't be penalized in the ratings since they didn't have Lawrence.....:roll1:
