The Big Ten Needs to Get Their Act Together

If Va Tech wins the ACC there may be a chance still. Now, that's definitely wearing Scarlet colored glasses but mathematically it would be possible. That's given the Buckeyes figure out how to play on the Oline and run the football.

I'm not sure I see any undefeated teams in the country this season except maybe Oklahoma but they call them Chokelahoma for a reason.

Math doesn't really factor in anymore. The polls are entirely meaningless, there is no statistical model that helps determine any sort of formula or ranking.

It's all perception. It's a garbage system.

Perception and Allegiances. The ADs will all campaign for their own conference... then there's a number of people with hard connections to Stanford, USC, Oregon, ND, Nebraska, and The South (since we know how they think the Civil War is still being fought)
Not that it matters this year, but near as I can tell the Big10's advocates will be Barry Alvarez, Osborne (Nebraska), Gould (Ohio-born USAF), and Tyrone Willingham. With the caveats that Alvarez has to leave the room for Wisconsin, and Osborne has to leave the room for Nebraska. When it comes to Ohio State specifically, I'm not sure what to expect from any of them.

1. How the hell is Hoke commanding such a high salary?!? Da FUQ he do, threaten to eat the AD's family?!?

2. How do more guys who have done NOTHING in their careers make so much money?

3. Jerry Kill and Dantonio are uber underpaid. Bo, Franklin, Ferentz, and Fatty are waaaaaaay overpaid.

4. Franklin and Bo are the youngest guys in the league?!?

I think a better question would be, "Why is any academic institution paying a coach a seven figure income, an income that dwarfs the income of the president of the school, the deans, department heads and senior professors?"

At least in the case of Ohio State it is an income that comes entirely from the assets of the athletic department.

Same happens here in Nebraska....all athletic department funds are generated from sports income, not tuition.
