Consider: Ohio State has five borderline Top 100 commitments from the Class of 2007 (three are in the top 65; Eric Wallace is the only question mark) plus five more from the Class of 2008 (four are in the top 45; Walter Offutt is the only question mark).

No where in recruiting history has this type of repeated harvesting of talent occured. I believe Thad Matta is one of the most genuine people and hardest working coaches that I've ever seen. That given how much luck can one guy have? I don't believe that Thad is cheating to get these recruits, but these classes are almost too good to be true. We all know what that means. Someone further reassure my paranoid grumblings about the recruiting process. There has been no indications that anything is remotely wrong but its truly scary that the best players in the country have "all of a sudden" decided tOSU is the greatest place on Earth. Sure I believe it is and many posters on this board believe it too. Is Thad Matta the reason that now all the best basketball players in the country are starting to believe it? I hope so.
That article brings alot to light doesnt it.

Its just sooo amazing the things Matta has already done, and from where we were just 4 years ago and beyond. A perennial top 5 basketball team to go with the perennial top 5 football team? My history and luck will not allow this to go unscathed. I guess I'm always waiting on the other shoe to drop these days.

Jesus Christ! Or, should I say Thad Matta? This guy is unbelieveable! He gets a commitment from any kid he looks at, and we're not talking about long, dragged out recruitments. Instant commitments! Does this guy even have a scholarship grid to worry about? Thad Matta is officially the "Undisputable Heavyweight Champion of College Basketball Recruitment". Bill Self, Roy Williams, and Coach K have nothing on this guy. NOTHING. I have never seen recruiting results like this. EVER! BAR NONE. Not even K gets commitments this easily. Sure, he has gotten more than his share of blue chippers, but he has to fight for his kids. So does Self. When was the last time that the Almighty Coach K locked down the #1 Player in any given class BEFOFRE THE KID EVEN COMPLETED HIS FRESHMAN YEAR? I do not think that has ever happened. Somewhere, Mike Conley, Sr. is smiling. You know he and Matta are gonna be friends for a long time. Ohio State is going to be a basketball factory until Matta gets bored (if he ever does) and goes to the NBA (if he ever does). AT LEAST HE IS A BIG 10 MAN (no pun intended). So, he is good for our league.
Surgery for Matta
Coach Thad Matta had surgery on his back and "everything went fine," athletic department spokesman Dan Wallenberg said.
No further details were available, but a source said Matta had experienced numbness in a foot recently, possibly indicating a herniated disk.
Matta has had recurring back problems during his three years at Ohio State.
