I don't know how this kid convinced people he was any good, but people were talking about him after that NC game like he played well "all things considered". He played like [Mark May] until Bama called off the dogs. He couldn't even complete screen passes. I think the problems are more than just between the ears. He's not any good, either.

Your probably right... I haven't watched that game in a while and my memory is shot as it is... I think alot of what convinced people he played at Lake Travis where they've won the state championship the last 5 years... plus it doesn't hurt that his Coach was Clemson OC Chad Morris... so maybe GD ruined him and Harsin & Applewhite don't know what to do...

He beat Nebraska in Lincoln. Granted, we helped a lot, but he still got it done.

Wow. I am SO enjoying this. Too bad it took two schools leaving for folks to realise what we've been saying since late 1995....

Dan Beebe working on agreement to exit as Big 12 commissioner

By MIKE DeARMOND

The Kansas City Star

Dan Beebe was working Wednesday on an agreement to leave his position as Big 12 Conference commissioner, according to two sources with knowledge of Beebe's decision.

The announcement of Beebe's departure is expected to come today.

"He's working on his exit package right now," one of the sources, who spoke directly to Beebe, told The Star on Wednesday night.

"A couple of weeks ago he told me privately that if the conference stayed together and he had to go it would be like lifting up a huge weight off his heart."

That source added that Beebe, who is an attorney, "has his best lawyer hat on now."

Beebe's job came in question earlier this week when a report out of Oklahoma said a condition for the Sooners' continued membership in the Big 12 was to have a new commissioner. His exit comes as the conference decides how to move forward with nine teams next season after losing a member for the third time in 15 months.

One of the things that contributed to Beebe's decision to leave, according to the source, was how he was perceived by some as being too willing to do the bidding of the University of Texas.

"Up in your neck of the woods," said the source, "he is considered a puppet for Texas."

The problem, said the source, who is based in Texas, is that "nobody down here thinks that there is anybody in the Big 12 but Texas and Oklahoma.

Nice to see even some of the local Texas sportswriters realizing what many of us have known for some time - and eating a little crow even! This from Randy Galloway of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, who has been firmly in Texas' pocket in the past:

Full credit here to the Children of the Corn, even though that was me some 16 months ago, saying Nebraska sniveled its way out of the Big 12. But it's also me saying today that the Cornhuskers made a brilliant jump.

Next in line this morning for full credit would be the Texas Aggies. All that Reveille barking was up the right tree.

The message in both cases was simple and direct:

We don't want our future in football, or anything else, tied to The Man in Austin.

Nebraska got out, and the Aggies are getting out. Both moves involved landing in much more stable football precincts.

Better and much more stable because there is no Daddy DeLoss guarding his Fort Knox-like vault.

Speaking of brilliance, Mr. Dodds is the best in college football in his watchdog role of protecting all things UT, no matter the big-picture consequences for others in his conference family.

It's greed, it's arrogance, it's...the American way. And certainly the University of Texas way.

Daddy DeLoss is a p-r-o-f-e-s-s-i-o-n-a-l. He will hurt you.

Hilarious. Nice to see that after we left (along with Colorado at the same time) that other teams are trying to follow the blueprint but still coming up short of the goal line.

OU, as much as I love their fans and the history we have with them, sealed their fates years ago when they signed their deal with the devil in blood at the formation of the Big 12...

New reality show: Longhorns vs Razorbacks

It should be on the LHN. The show could give Texas a great recruiting advantage in Arkansas.
