Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

UT officials asking for patience on the LHN

...Texas officials are pleading with Longhorns fans to be patient.
Since launching the network in August 2011, "delays in distribution have overshadowed the network's many positive aspects and impact," Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and women's athletic director Chris Plonsky said in a joint statement last week.
"We ask our fans for patience and understanding," they said. "Distribution will happen, but the business negotiations process is painfully slow." "
So slow that football season came and went without a major cable or satellite distributor. The same thing will likely happen with basketball, although both the men's and women's teams are struggling to build NCAA tournament-worthy resumes.
...
I hope they keep up with the slow distribution rights.

Wouldn't you want to have figured out your distribution plan, and have some carriers lined up, prior to launching your little vanity network? Even allowing for a certain amount of schadenfreude, this is painful to watch.

File this one under "i'm going to this school come hell or high water" . I applaud the kid and hope it works out for him.

the Longhorns received a pledge from Harker Heights outside linebacker Naashon Hughes, who has agreed to a greyshirt offer to become Texas' 11th commitment for 2013.

he 6-foot-4, 211-pound outside linebacker chose Texas ahead of several other schools. He has numerous verbal offers, including ones from LSU, Baylor and South Carolina, and was receiving heavy interest from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Oregon, among others.
