Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

I lived in Manhattan...they are weak sauce compared to Madison and Happy Valley. K-State got their arses handed to them by Rock Chaulk Jayhawk and all the purple boys took their ball and left Aggieville (K-State "Bar" area) Don't know about Boulder though.

Depends entirely on when you lived there. For most of my life Manhattan has been Lincoln South. I saw my first Husker game in Manhattan as a wee lad. We used to pay for 1/4 of their athletic department budget by filling their stadium, and the locals were docile as lambs.

Then Grandma Bill Snyder showed up and they won a few games. They were still mostly OK, but the couple of years from 2004-2007, when they were legitimately better than us, they were very ugly towards Husker fans.

Nothing beats Boulder, though, not even Columbus. Batteries in snowballs, urine bombs, you name it, they chucked it at us. And that lasted for decades.

I can't speak for the hostility at Camp Randall, but I do know they've never had their student section cleared because of hostility toward the opponent and their fans.

I was there from 2007-2010. The fans at BW-3s hated me. I used stats and facts to combat their tOSU sucks rants. It was fun.

Quick story, my Father went to PSU for a Buckeye game. Buckeyes won (duh!) and he came home with a black eye and told me if I ever chose to go to that school I would be disowned. I guess it stuck with me.

Worst place to watch a game though would be Lubbock, TX. They are boring fans and are bandwagon like crazy. They had no idea what to do when the 5 of us started to chant :oh::io: after the Buckeyes won on tv.

You must have encountered the worst crowd in Boulder history. (They were probably on some bad weed.) My brother is in Fort Collins and I've had nothing but good fun with fan interaction in CO (props to croc's). Expect Madison and "Happy" Valley to be worse. Especially if you have early success.

Their rancor developed over decades of ass-whippings. We beat them - usually quite badly - 26 out of 30 years, and 49 times in the 69 years we played them. They used to put our game in giant red letters on their locker-room schedule. They hate us to this day, a special dislike that they hold for no other team.

I'm old enough (barely) to remember Walter Cronkite narrating as the last chopper flew out of Saigon. Father fought over there.

I know Chuck Norris was there. Breaking out of POW camps and blowing up a lot of shiat.

1. The bitches in Boulder learned that shit from Bucky.
2. Batteries in snowballs? :slappy: Bucky just chucks batteries.
3. Camp Randall doesn't clear the fucking student section because they fucking condone it...not because it isn't absurd.

I pressed 'multi-quote' on this...

We should really veer this off the Texas thread into some other thread.

I get that Camp Randall is an "unfriendly" place for visitors, using my master-of-the-understatement powers there. We'll have to let you know how it compares to our other ugly road trips from the Big XII.

I wonder if we won't be shown their best behavior this year since we're new, and all eyes will be focused on our first-ever Big Ten game, and after that the gloves come off.

A lot of it depends on how the lead-up to the game goes. If you have a bunch of dumbass Husker fans shooting their mouths off saying we're going to roll through the Big Ten (a sentiment that is, thankfully, not widespread), then I can see Wiscy Fan taking umbrage to that and letting us have it in Madison. But if all sides are friendly and respectful leading up to the game, which I suspect will happen this year, then the overall experience shouldn't be too bad.

No matter what happens, anywhere, when you come to Lincoln you'll be treated well. There will be the inevitable jackass here and there, but 99% of the Husker fans you meet are more likely to hand you a Red Cup than chuck a battery at your head. I think there will be a lot of friendliness shown to your fans Oct. 8th, and for the most part your friends and family should come back with good reports about us. No slashed tires, no broken windshields, no assaults, no harassment of your wife and kids.

I was there last year... wasn't bad at all. First Wisky fan we ran into on the streets after dinner (Friday night) bummed a lighter and shared a toke or two off his joint in the street with me. (Maybe that's why I thought everyone was so nice?)

We travel around - never had too many problems, the worst we got in Madison was a middle finger here & there..

We have yet to go to Happy Valley, but as of now, the worse thing thats happened was a scuffle in an Ann Arbor bar over a scUM fan Gator Chomping and running his mouth about the SEC. Best part: they kicked the scUM fan out after the old man drove him into the bar by his throat. :slappy:

My best advice is to not let a drunk fraternity brother knock a whole table's worth of alcohol onto Jon Navarre and a couple of his former lineman in an Ann Arbor bar on a day when Ohio State beats Michigan. Although it will leave you with an interesting story to tell.
