Teams Ohio State Needs to Lose

You seem to think reality means you can predict the future. It's lonely because crazy makes people uncomfortable.

We got embarrassed by a terrible Virginia Tech team. We struggled mightily against a terrible Ped State team.

Michigan State is orders of magnitude better than those scrub schools.

And I'M crazy for thinking that we're probably going to lose against Michigan State?

Anyone who thinks that the Buckeyes are going to come out of East Lansing with a win is certifiable. The Buckeyes haven't beaten a team with a pulse since the '11 Sugar Bowl.

Since that game some miserable osu fans have joined the rhetoric in trashing any slain opponent as worthless and putting the teams that beat them on a pedestal. Sparty would have joined Wisconsin 2011 if heuerman had picked up that block.

And if osu beats sparty, which is definitely possible but not probable, guess which garbage bin they'll be tossed in by broad brushes like yours ?

Plenty of us have concerns about this weekend's matchup. Not everyone feels compelled to turn the negativity and bile up to 11 to describe those concerns, let alone declare folks certifiable If they deny that impending doom.

For me, the youth and flaws of this team have allowed me to enjoy the season more, not less. I have not stressed about the title Chase or ranking positioning and can actually enjoy growth instead of demanding any birthright for greatness from osu.

Some people on the ledge you try to help back, others should be encouraged to take the plunge. We all live in our own realities, those that live in such dark realities I feel for. I can't imagine watching sports if I perceive it to be so miserable, spend time doing something enjoyable.

Neither team is "terrible". Far from it. They are average Power5 teams with enough top talent to give almost anybody a game if they are hitting on all cylinders.

Michigan State is clearly better than Virginia Tech or Penn State. "Orders of magnitude" better? I don't know about that - that sounds like a load of hyperbole to me. Michigan State beat Nebraska by five points at home. How was Nebraska able to almost knock off the mighty Spartans? Is Nebraska also "orders of magnitude" better than Ohio State? Or are you overrating Michigan State just a bit?

And I'M crazy for thinking that we're probably going to lose against Michigan State?
Well, everybody knows that you are crazy. But I think you're having a lucid moment here. Ohio State is probably going to lose against Michigan State. However, I think it will be a close game that Ohio State could win. There is no "orders of magnitude" difference between the two teams. The "talent" edge goes to Ohio State. The "experience" edge goes to Michigan State. The "coaching" is pretty much even. Michigan State has the home field advantage. Vegas has Ohio State as a slight dog (1.5 to 2 points on the early lines), which sounds about right to me.

Anyone who thinks that the Buckeyes are going to come out of East Lansing with a win is certifiable.
Lucid moment over.

The Buckeyes haven't beaten a team with a pulse since the '11 Sugar Bowl.
This is factually correct, if "a team with a pulse" means someone ranked in the top 15. But what can we infer from this? That Ohio State will never again beat a team with a pulse? Ohio State is eventually going to return to elite status, and it quite possibly could happen this week.

If a 2-loss SEC West team gets in over a 1-loss conference champion OSU, Sparty or Corn, Delaney had better go to the mattresses. Scorched fucking earth. Crush his enemies, drive them before him and fucking hear the lamentations of their god damned their women.

After grabbing his ankles over both a conference champion rule and home field, he had damned well better redeem himself or find a basement to hide his sorry ass.
I can see your point, but better get some KY Jelly ready. No one (other than us) wants a Big Ten team in this. TV hopes ND or Oregon makes it through unscathed so they can have FSU and any two SEC teams. ABC/ESPN have been building on the SEC West like its a separate Super Conference. They like Jameis and Notre Dame because they bring their fans and their haters.
they like Oregon because that makes it look like it really is a national tourney and not the Sun Belt Classic.

I agree that this has been more enjoyable to watch because of JTs and the team's youth.

I'm at the point that I'm hoping for a shitshowclusterhoke. FSU and 3 SEC teams, including a 2-loss team from the West. Let it hit the fan. Let everywhere outside of the South boycott it. Let's see if Delaney's testicles can descend or if it's still all about protecting the Rose Bowl above all else. Plus, it'll prove me right to all the "Screw rooting for the Big Ten because all Ohio State has to do is take care of their own business and they're in" crowd.

osu losing to vt is not taking care of their own business. I agree with your sadistic hope for an ugly playoff pool to possibly force change but I disagree that osu is the one getting screwed by your hypothetical pool.

Relative to the undefeated teams, it's not. Relative to every other 1-loss team (and certainly the hypothetical 2-loss SECW team that gets in) it certainly is taking care of business. We will have done everything they did--win all our games except for one. But merely winning will not have been enough because of conference/schedule strength.

I still want Ohio State to get in. We'll go in with nothing to lose and a puncher's chance. Barring that, then it's definitely the more ludicrous the four teams are the better.

Ohio State has already failed to take care of its own business, so it wouldn't prove anything. That' said, I'd prefer that the conference not suck because experience playing good opponents prepares a team to beat other good opponents.
