Targeting/Pussification of football

Of course there is targeting. When you’re trying to tackle a 180-220 pound football player you need to take aim and bring him to the ground. I’m close to being done with this sport altogether. It’s not even football anymore. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to redirect your body in milliseconds when tackling an opponent (who is also trying to avoid being tackled) ZERO chance any athlete playing football will understand how to tackle in 10 years.
Tackle like Deon not Tatum . We are in the grab and hold era. Arm tackling era..look at all the arm injuries in the NFL now on defense.

Just watched a hit in the Kentucky/VT game. Sure looked like targeting to me, but was not confirmed. Helmet to helmet. I believe what we can all agree on is that the intent of the rule is good, of course so was the Spearing rule. However, the issue will always be the administration of the rule and the inconsistency with which this occurs. The rule definitely needs to be modified as many have suggested here, where a player is not immediately dismissed.

Another no targeting call in the Kentucky/VT game even though called targeting on the field. DB led with helmet and hit the WR in the head/neck area and if he hadn’t the guy coming from the side, also leading with helmet, would have targeted as well.

Another no targeting call in the Kentucky/VT game even though called targeting on the field. DB led with helmet and hit the WR in the head/kneck area and if he hadn’t the guy coming from the side, also leading with helmet, would have targeted as well.
I just watched that one, there were about 4 minutes left in the third quarter when it happened. It looked like it was correctly called live to me, the Kentucky defender launched and hit the guy almost head on with the crown of his helmet into the ball carrier's facemask, and the ball carrier went backwards after the violent contact.

Replay has to either confirm or have it overturned in college now, and the replay booth and the announcers didn't think it was targeting. This was another one that I thought was almost textbook about what they're trying to eliminate from the game. I don't know which crew is doing this game.

That's 3 targeting calls in the last 24 hours where I thought 2 were targeting and 1 wasn't, and the only one that was targeting after the replay review was the Illinois one where the guy hit shoulder-to-shoulder, the only one I thought was NOT targeting.

Each of these 3 should be included in a package that gets reviewed nationally, and then they need to re-write the rule, again, and standardize its enforcement. I think they need to do it like the NHL does, review things at 1 location. I know there could be 40 games going at once, as opposed to about 10 NHL games, but they need to staff up and standardize how this rule is enforced.

Hell, I finally agree with one. With 11:01 left in the first quarter, an ASU defender creamed the FSU QB Blackman who had turned upfield near the sideline, so he wasn't 'defenseless'. He launched but hit shoulder-to-shoulder, violently knocking back the skinny QB. He then got called for taunting when he stood over him. Danielson and Nessler both thought it was targeting, but I didn't, and the replay took it away, since targeting and unsportsmanlike were both called on the field.

Sounds like plenty of targeting calls (or not) in the games today. Unfortunately, I am like one of 3 dumb asses that actually came to work today so haven't been able to watch any games. Still pissed about Saturday and what might have, should have been a Buckeye victory. Was also thinking about Chase and the game he played. Put some pressure on the QB but not much to write home about. Any thoughts on his effort / looking out for his NFL stock compared to what JK put forth? I know he came close to sacking the QB several times but never got home before the pass or scramble. Anyway, Happy New Year and fuck Clemson, fuck TTUN, fuck Dabo, fuck SEC refs, fuck the State Farm Stadium turf, fuck targeting, fuck the CFP selection committee, and fuck inept replay officials. CHEERS!

The "IT WAS RIGHT ACCORDING TO THE RULE!!!" arument is still the absolute worst.

That would be cool if they enforced the rule accordingly in all instances......

we all know they dont know. It still comes down to it being a 100% subjective thing (depending on how the officals on that given day feel like calling it) that can drastically shift a game by removing a top defender on a team.
