Tajh Boyd (official thread)

ok woah guys.

just trying to inform and stimulate some conversation.

didn't know i was dooming and glooming everyone.

It's ok man, but as wad said, we had a cataclysmic overload of rumors and posts from posters who had "sources" that Pryor was going here, there, etc. So we just want to avoid that with Boyd. Every site will have a poster with "sources" that indicate their school will win out, especially in the last couple days before the announcement. With that said, conversation is a-ok from solid, well known sources, but if they aren't, it's just as likely that the poster is a fake. In fact, more times than not they are fakes this late in the process. Either way, we'll know tomorrow. Carry on. :)

I don't like that Clemson did that. Let the kid alone and give him some time to make his decision don't send people to his door the day before he is to make his decision. You were just there friday let him sort it all out in his head.

I don't understand the outrage it's a two way street, just because they show up doesn't mean the Boyd's have to talk to them. Obviously Tajh wanted to talk to Clemson coaches, if it helps him make a better decision more power to him.

Yeah if they were sitting pretty and thought they were in the lead. There was no need for a last minute visit especially being that they were the last to see him in the first place.

If you're in a footrace, it's close, but you're in the lead, are you going to just take it easy for the sake of making it closer than it needs to be? If you have anything left in the tank, you're likely going to give yourself the best chance to win the footrace and give it your all.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't take advantage of the situation and get a final visit.

Every staff does that and there's nothing wrong with it. You have to sell yourself.

See above. Sometimes making a recruit feel "wanted" or "needed" is the best selling point.

Hey, I have one of those too. Just took it north of Indy on my way back to Ohio last weekend. No kidding... Notice that I'm at a solid buck and still have 1/2 of my tach to get through before I'm topped out. Man did I catch crap from the wife when I posted this to facebook.
:2004:

Just piling on here.

TB content: He's going to make a good decision for himself. I think that we all agree that there are pros and cons with each program that he's looking at. Either way, the kid's going to be a great one. I for one am grateful for this forum in that I get to see kids like this even if they don't become Bucks. Either way, here's to hoping. Countdown is T-minus 20 hours or so.

Didn't he say that he wants to win a national Championship and a Heisman? You don't typically do that at Clemson so that's why he wouldn't choose them.

I don't see why he wouldn't choose Clemson. His dad obviously wants him to go there. He has a good chance, if healthy, to start from day one. There were reports of having family close nearby. I think all signs point to Clemson. I'd be more than ecstatic if he came here, just don't know if he will.

That all sounds nice, but recruits REALLY want to be prepared for the NFL, and if they can happen to stumble upon a NC, that just makes it the better. I'm sure 9 out of 10 top rated recruits feel like they can go anywhere and win a Heisman. Most recruits rarely have ample knowledge of how tough the college game is. Tahj may very well want to win those things, but I'm sure he, as well as the people in his cirlce, believe he's good enough to do that wherever he chooses to go.

How many accolades can you achieve for one school in a span of 4 years?

---

If Tajh won a National Title for Clemson, it would be their 2nd National Title, adding to 1981. Lofty goal.

If Tajh won a National Title for Ohio State, it would be their 6th* (8th?) National Title, adding to 2002. Lofty goal? Playing for it in '02, '06, and '07 says no...

---

If Tajh earned the Heisman Trophy while playing for Clemson, it would be their First Heisman Trophy. Lofty goal.

If Tajh earned the Heisman Trophy while playing for Ohio State, it would be their Eighth Heisman Trophy, spread amongst 7 players. Lofty goal? Not going off of recent history. (Troy Smith may pay huge dividends?)

---

If Tajh went to the BCS (even one time!) while playing for Clemson, it would be their 1st BCS appearance. Plan on sketchy, at best.

If Tajh went to the BCS (even one time!) while playing for Ohio State, it would be their 8th BCS appearance. Plan on 3 out of every 4 years.

---

If Tajh went to Clemson, and won a conference title, it would be the 14th conference title for that school. Lofty? Heh, yep, have to say so..

If Tajh went to Ohio State, and won a conference title, it would be the 35th conference title for that school. Not to mention, the outright favorite to win that title EVERY year that he is enrolled...

---

Just thinking out loud :)

I went and left one thing out...

How did Boyd's parents feel about their visit to OSU?

" " " " " " " " " Oregon?

" " " " " " " " " Clemson?

-----------

I am the opposite of an insider, obviously. Just fill me in.
