Great game Bucks, everything ya'll said about your team was the truth. We fought hard but obviously aren't used to the Big Stage BCS games. Our players had the deer in the headlights look in the 1st half. I'm not taking away from tOSU's "D". Ya'll kept the pressure on Mallett and eventually he folded, dropped passes...blah..blah..blah.

tOSU has a great coach and team, can't wait for a re-match!

Go HOGS!

I watched the game and saw what I saw. I saw Cam getting bent back after the whistle in the pile and he had to shove guys off to prevent injury. OSU players and coaches aren't going to whine in a presser, it's not their style. Now OSU fans on an OSU message board can whine all they want.

You come over to an Ohio State board under the veil of "good game buckeyes" while taking subtle jabs at our coach. We aren't stupid. We know what you are trying to do. It will be interesting in the future when violations arise at Arkansas....because they happen everywhere...and now that you guys are relevant for the first time in 20 years, you will be under the microscope as well. Hell, you just got off of a 3 year probation in 2006.

Just to clear the air before I take my leave of this fine forum [no sarcasm intended], I want to restate my respect for your program. There was no veiled intent any any form. I also know you folks are not stupid, but you did read something into my post that was not intended. My jab at Tressell was a heck of a lot lighter than what many of your own fans posted on here, and not my main point. I think he caved under the pressure, but I'm sure many other coaches would have done the same. What I think of him is not one ounce relevant to your program. None of you give a rat's for what I think and that's the way it should be. As far as the cheap shots, I simply disagree. Football's a rough game and you're going to get hit legally and illegally in the knees. That hit was legal whether you liked it or not.

Good luck next year and in the future. Hmmm, was I too passive aggressive in this post,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Most of you have no idea what the man stands for other than the [Mark May] that is spewed by ESPN. While there are many on BP that may question his coaching decisions on the field, there is not a one of us that would question the man's integrity or what he means to this university. After everything he has done for this program, this university and the kids he has coached, he doesn't need to answer to you, me or the media for the reason why he let those 5 play.

Exactly, our complaints are that he's playing not to lose (which he didn't lose) as opposed to going for the jugular (which is what most of us want)

Not that he isn't a good coach or that he isn't capable of winning the big one.

tressel-ball at its finest...read that link osugrad posted for you...its something we've all seen before many many times and its caused people like me to drink heavily...thats why at halftime, even when up by 18 points, i knew the game was far from over and i was not comfortable at all

I think he is referring to Tressel caving to the powers that be and playing the 5 guys.

Although I look at it as complying the NCAAs decision.

Absolute bull [Mark May]. Every coach, at every program, is always answerable at all times for every aspect of their program. That is why they earn an astoundingly high salary. They are always accountable. They are accountable to the fanbase of the program that they represent, and they are accountable for the public perception of their actions to the general public and press.

Now, is it fine to ignore the press and the fans of other programs as it relates to the actions of your coach? Absolutely, to an extent. Urban made decisions in running his program that not everybody outside our program agreed with. Was he responsible for the perception of the university as a result of his actions? You bet he was. Is it possible that the public perception of his actions outside of the program is different than the perception at his actions within the program? That is always a certainty. One reason is the homer outlook of justifying everything your coach does. Another valid reason is that the "big picture", a more thorough examination of why a coach did what he did on any given issue, is often not always understood or portrayed completely in an ESPN sound bite. That is why using ESPN criticism in your denouncement of program "A", while criticizing ESPN as producing unfair and hackish journalism when it talks about program "B" (your program) is so suspect.

So I have to tell you , bottom line, is that I love Coach Tress. I think that he is a great coach, a wonderful ambassador for tOSU and the Big-10 in general, and one of my favorite coaches ever, as he is a good Xs and Os coach, but an even better person and molder of young men.

Is Coach Tressel above criticism and critique concerning his on the field and off the field running of your program? No f-ing way.

It's guys like you, that don't know the rules, that make unsubstantiated accusations, that litter our message boards in Arkansas. There was not one comment by an Ohio State player or coach, in any media article that mentioned cheap shots at the bottom of a pile. Just because you say it on a message board doesn't make it true. Now, were there some? I don't know. I do know that I was at the bottom of some of those piles when I played, and it happens. But I don't suppose a Buckeye has ever done that.

You can't even be gracious in a win. You have to bad mouth the other team. Like I said, your kind litters our board as well.

Nice try at attempting to mask your bitterness behind a veil of humility...

And, for the several knuckleheads who posted we 'cheap-shotted' Heyward- It ain't illegal to hit a d-lieman below the waist if he's not engaged with another defensive player,,, a la chop block. The announcers did not make a big deal out of it because there was none to make.
good point. after all, it's not as though the guy who "cheap-shotted" heyward hasn't already been caught executing illegal blocks that appear to be more about injuring an opponent than clearing a play.
