Game Thread Sugar Bowl: tOSU vs Arkansas, Tue, Jan 4th, 8:30 ET ESPN

I've tried to post this twice, but I'm guessing your yankee technology on this board is too much for me to comprehend. Here goes again,,,,,,

I have really enjoyed reading this thread for the last several days. 90 % of you Buck fans are very cool and classy. Heck, 95% of you are even very intelligent. I wore a black sweater vest to work yesterday to both honor the Bucks victory and to mourn our defeat. It was worn also to symbolize my loss of respect for the NCAA and coach Tressell. Last year before our bowl, Petrino sent home three players [two starters] for missing a curfew. He'd have done the same with the tat boys. But this is not a big point. If we had played you guys without TP and company, and won, it would have been hollow. I guess that SEC over Ohio State was a pretty big motivating thing.

I too , like you Bucks, am disgusted and tired about hearing the ifs. If that Alabama player had not stepped too close to the sideline, Woody would have coached a lot longer. God, even as a southern boy i liked that man. For the Buck peckerwoods who feel we should not even have been on the field with OS, and that that you should have murdered us because of that first half pounding,,,, news flash,,, there are two halves to a game. We handled you pretty well the second half. Regardless, whichever team was to win the game was FORTUNATE. For you to think we couldn't beat you is ridiculous. Heck your Kris Allen lookalike hadn't been in the right place at the right time,,,,, oops,, that's an if,,,, my bad!
By the way, I'd take five of him in Razorback Red. That crotch catch in the endzone was amazing concentration.

And, for the several knuckleheads who posted we 'cheap-shotted' Heyward- It ain't illegal to hit a d-lieman below the waist if he's not engaged with another defensive player,,, a la chop block. The announcers did not make a big deal out of it because there was none to make. The refs did not help either team. Both teams popped the other team's receivers late, and gasp yes, your guys held us too, especially our defensive ends.

I really enjoyed the game. It was heartening to know that we had a chance to beat one of the top football teams in the land, a program that we in Arkansas can only hope to someday be compared to. I hope we get to play you again in the future. This would mean that we are finally good enough to say we have arrived in the top tier.

Congratulations on your win.

Not a big point either, but to use Bobby Petrino as a moral compass in the assessment of Jim Tressel is...well...comical.

Congrats on a good season.

Mallet had already thrown the ball and the d lineman dives at Cams ankles...whatever. Also, that play was a culmination of cheap shots in the bottom of the pile all day. Guys were pile jumping on him and bending him back while other players were laying on his legs. It was pretty ridiculous.

It's guys like you, that don't know the rules, that make unsubstantiated accusations, that litter our message boards in Arkansas. There was not one comment by an Ohio State player or coach, in any media article that mentioned cheap shots at the bottom of a pile. Just because you say it on a message board doesn't make it true. Now, were there some? I don't know. I do know that I was at the bottom of some of those piles when I played, and it happens. But I don't suppose a Buckeye has ever done that.

You can't even be gracious in a win. You have to bad mouth the other team. Like I said, your kind litters our board as well.

Ha,,, good point. If you compare his leaving a job with a professional team to what Tressell did, maybe in some universe there isn't a lot of difference.

I watched the game and saw what I saw. I saw Cam getting bent back after the whistle in the pile and he had to shove guys off to prevent injury. OSU players and coaches aren't going to whine in a presser, it's not their style. Now OSU fans on an OSU message board can whine all they want.

You come over to an Ohio State board under the veil of "good game buckeyes" while taking subtle jabs at our coach. We aren't stupid. We know what you are trying to do. It will be interesting in the future when violations arise at Arkansas....because they happen everywhere...and now that you guys are relevant for the first time in 20 years, you will be under the microscope as well. Hell, you just got off of a 3 year probation in 2006.

I wonder how LSU's Dorsey felt when Auburn damn near "chop blocked" him out of a pro career.

FWIW, there's a LOT more differing between the curfew suspension by Petrino and the tattoo situation at tOSU than just who the coaches are.

The curfew event occurred within the timeline of the bowl game.
The tattoo situation occurred in 2008.

The curfew event did not need self-reporting to the NCAA.
The tattoo situation was reported to the NCAA by tOSU.

Which leads to...

The curfew event did not have NCAA involvement nor a decision made by the NCAA.
The tattoo situation did.

There are other factors involving the Sugar Bowl committee and things of that sort which were not a part of the curfew suspension. It's apples and camels.

Play nice--

It was a good game. One team wins and one team loses.

One group of fans is happy and one is not.

Two very good teams played.

Both had missed opportunities.

Both could have won "IF".

At times players do naughty things ala cheap and borderline shots.

Both sets of fans see things through "rose-colored glasses.

Really good Sugar Bowl.

Really good plays by all.

Go Bucks and Go Hogs.

Have a great off-season and get ready for 2011.

Guess that universe isn't very far far away though...

On the other sideline stood Bobby Petrino, a habitual liar of a coach who is one of the worst serial offenders in all of football when it comes to leveraging deals. (This doesn?t even touch on his treatment of the Atlanta Falcons.)

You can disagree with JT's decision just like many Buckeye fans do...but really, stones, glass houses, pots, kettles, etc.

Again, good season but the passive-aggressive compliment-kick you in the mouth style posting isn't going to last long around here.

Remember, in the South, you can say anything you want and it isn't an insult as long as you end it with, "Bless your heart"

It was a Clemson player, not an Alabama player.

Thanks for the congrats. As for the rest of the crap in your post, it's not worth my time, I'm enjoying the win.
