Was looking at our box score on espn.com. And under it was this:

Research Notes:
The last time that Ohio State lost 2 games within their first 4 games of the season was 1990 (2-2). They finished that season 7-4-1.

What a useless stat that has nothing to do with our current situation.

I've been watching Ohio State football since 1968, and today was the most pathetic offensive overall performance I can recall. The OL as a unit was a complete joke...false starts and bad snaps by fucking seniors, missed assignments, just a piss poor effort across the board.

If you thought 2004 was bad, get ready for 2011. I fear we'll be lucky to go 6-6...I shit you not.

Sounds about right....
W: IU, PU, PSU
L: UW, UNL, UI, and UM? Can't believe I am putting UM here but they could get to 10 points.... can our O generate more than that?

Milwood I'm usually with you, but with THAT post you just made, I honestly have to say that, YEP, I'm with you again.

Sad thing is, there is really no direction to point a finger at It's just all bad across the board (offensively speaking).

I know Brax is young and we need to let him have some time to get adjusted, but is he really the answer? Never saw the kid play in High School yet his accolades speak volumes. Truth is, it's never a certainty that great HS players translate into great college players. When I look at Braxton, I think of guys like Joe Pickens and Justin Zwick that were gonna be our saviors but that never panned out.

I hope I'm wrong on this one, but at this point, I'd be looking at Guiton or Graham a little bit harder than I was yesterday.

Peace

I think that's a stretch after only 2 starts. He's playing with such a young cast, no guys like Santonio Holmes/Robiske or Chris Wells. HE may just not be ready for a true freshman starting role, not many QBs are. I think OSU fans were spoiled by Pryor and his supporting cast in 2008 and thought that it would work out just fine. Starting freshman QBs, ESPECIALLY in this situation, just have so many growing pains that you're going to have to wait these type of terrible offensive showings out.

I see in Miller the potential for Troy Smith+. The thing is, the coaches need to stick with him and gameplan around his CURRENT talents. This game illustrated the importance of using screens, quick throws to give him rhythm, and more option plays (please, PLEASE, no more slow developing draw plays). I don't think it can be stated enough how big a deal it is to have a true freshman QB and have a RS Fr., 2 true freshman, and 2 sophomores getting all the major reps. It really slows the development of the passing offense and limits it.

I don't mind going out on a limb and saying that in 3 years Braxton Miller will be considered one of the better QBs in OSU history, right up there with Troy, Kern, etc. It will just take a little more time.

This is the kind of stuff that irks me.

You are telling me this kid - that is stuffed full of high school accolades, high school highlight reels, hyperbole, decent spring game, and 10 pass completions in his 2 games he has started (in which he went 1-1) - is in your eyes the same stuff of a Heisman winner, record setter, and possibly the best QB OSU has ever had? You can see that all of Troy Smith's achievements in Miller at this point in Millers career? Please tell me what you are basing that off of. Height? Skin Color? Small flashes of running ability? There is nothing to back this claim up with. He has about the same chance as becoming Steve Bellasari as he does Troy Smith.

Everything comes back to coaching. I'm not sure what they are seeing all week in practice, but it couldn't be as bad as what we watched yesterday.

I feel bad for Luke because he has been set up to fail with this offensive staff. He's not an offensive guy as he'll be the first to admit. I'm not sure what the plan was going into the season, but once they found out Pryor wasn't there shouldn't steps have been taken to formulate a plan as to how they were going to run the offense? This is the same mess that we have seen time and time again offensively only worse. Why are they letting a freshman hold on to the ball for so long? Why are the routes taking so long to develop? Why does a qb who has been in the "system" for 5 years look so god awful? Jarrett Lee is Jordan Jefferson's back up. Shouldn't Ohio State be expected to have a capable back up plan that has enough talent around him to look at least competent on offense?

And to whoever said that it must have been painful for Tress to watch I say this: I have racked my brain to think how this season would be different if Tress were here and I can't come up with anything. This team would be sitting in exactly the same position as it is now if Tress were at the helm and all other circumstances were the same. The offensive brain trust at Ohio State would be unemployed if it were not for their relationship with Jim Tressel.

Disagree there pal. JT's been a great coach in all 10 years he's been at the helm at tOSU. JT was keeping the screening away from Bollman and taking hits for his weakness. I think JT would've done way better offensively with this team than Bollman.

Woke up with one of the worst hangovers ever. Didn't drink that much, in fact only a couple of beers before the game and one after. It's what my eyes took in between the beer that has laid me low.

Watching the Toledo game, I was struck by the fact that Toledo matched the bucks for speed, especially their corners on OSU's young receivers and backs.

Not enough has been made of what tattoogate has cost the team: Top flight talent, leadership, deep threat, someone to call the assignments at center, and the stability of a tenured head coach and staff.

I'm giving Fickell a pass for this season. He was dealt a meaner hand than seemed and I remember the fans being after Woody's head at the end of his first two seasons. BUT this was the most inept performance I have seen from the bucks, possibly since 1966.

Brewster is an AA at center, and wasn't involved in tattoogate. No problems there.
