That's a pain in the buns
Was at the game, and it's mind boggling how we had the ball longer than Sparty but (up until the last drive) we had 1/3 of the yards they had gained.
Today, everything offensively that could have gone wrong, went wrong. Our O-Line was not good, our QB (I'm not even going to count Bauserman against the prevent defense), did not play well. The coaching is just turrible.
The one thing I'm most frustrated with is playcalling. Okay so you want to throw the ball, out of I-Formation (NUMEROUS TIMES) with 2 WR's. So if they are shut down, guess what's going to happen? A scramble for loss of yards/no gain or a sack. We need to spread the field more, give him MORE options. This will help alleviate the blitzes and will open up slant routes, which can back teams off a bit giving him more time to throw. The deep pass that Braxton completed, he had more WR's on the field (they ran a cross pattern on that side of the field). I'm not saying he needs to go through EVERY option, but let him read the defense a little more than just two guys. That's problem A.
Problem B, is our WR's can't get any space from the DB's. Not sure if it's because of the inexperience, but hopefully this starts to change as the season goes.
Problem C. Why on earth are we sending Boren out to the slot? He's not a legit receiver, and this about 99% of the time takes him out of the play. At least keep him in the backfield and show pass block then slip out of the backfield.
Problem D. The fan support wasn't the greatest today. 4th quarter hang on sloopy, was one of the worst I've ever seen, and it was still a 7 point game!!!!! I was looking at the East/West sides of the stadium today during the O-H-I-O part of the song, and about 75% of the fans were NOT doing it.
Problem E. Braxton when scrambling needs to start running and stop juking. He's quick if he can get space, and he can get space if he just takes off instead of juking.
Problem F. I need more BuckeyeDonuts than just when I go to football games
That's all I can think of right now. The rest of the season is going to be a tough one as a Buckeye fan. I wouldn't trade it for the world though. No matter what, I will ALWAYS bleed SCARLET & GRAY.
