There is not a left tackle that was in the mix up until a few months ago unless you count Adams, and I don't know that he would be starting either way. I don't think Corp would have played even if he never got hurt. Jenkins was a senior last year.

Jimbo, the point is not whether there is a left tackle in the mix, or the fact that Malcom was a senior. The points concern the team's need to cover McKnight with a linebacker in certain situations and their inability to push the line back in key short yardage situations.

The first is a routine gamble that all defenses take and the Bucks got burned by it. Such is life.

The "left tackle" is a way to speak to OSU's continued O line problems, an area that seems to me to go back as far as the MoC era when the only time the Bucks could run effectively was when Maurice was in the game. Pittman and then Beanie brought the running game around, but the team continued to struggle with pass blocking against quick defensive ends and have now added an inability to make short yardage this year.

A screen pass would of been nice out of any formation Saturday night. Two games vs USC and not 1 single screen pass. You would think Tressel would run more considering it is a low risk high reward play.

Wouldn't be because of the speed of the other guys DBs and LBs would it? Nah.

Ever wonder why other teams didn't go wide when Hawk, Carpenter and Schlegle were LBs for the Bucks? There are times when you have to adjust your play calls to acknowledge the other teams strengths. Going wide or throwing screens against a defense as quick as USC's is to invite injury to your receivers and create third-and-long situations.

Agreed. We all know how this team hates to be in 3rd and long situations!

While Gator expressed his sediments about your word-choice well enough; I for one want nothing to do with your sediments. I hope that my sentiments on the matter are not misunderstood.

Spending a good portion of my day on this board is a very sedimentary activity. I think I'll go play golf.

Homan played a hell of a game, but putting a linebacker on a fast RB is a chance you sometimes have to take, a one play situation if you will...
Sure it's risky to put a LB in coverage on a speedy RB. But it's obviously considerably less risky if you have a quick, hybrid LB/S to man that duty, rather than being forced to put a bigger, traditional LB in coverage. I don't see it as an issue of making excuses, or denying credit, but it seems difficult to deny that having Moeller available would have benefited the OSU defense, particularly in that situation, and might have taken away a couple of critical plays.

Yep, exactly.

OregonBuckeye had a good point that USC had important players missing too. I guess I just look at Moeller's absence differently because the cause was a total non-football related fluke that shouldn't have happend.

Anyway, I don't mean it to come across like "we should have won, etc.". More smiply that "it would have been nice to have Moeller, f*ck Decker".

What a trip to the 'Shoe lastnight, thanks to all the 106,000 for being there, Will Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Cris Carter, Santonio Holmes and I'm sure there were many more. What an experience I will never forget!

Apparently Vince Vaughn was born and raised a Buckeye fan. I had no idea, but one of the local channels had a short interview with him about it

Yeah I saw that too. He had a sweet buckeye shirt and hat on. Said his Dad was a Buckeyes fan so he was too.

Not sure if this has been posted...

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) -- The Southern California-Ohio State thriller is the most-viewed college football game ever on ESPN.
USC's 18-15 come-from-behind win Saturday night drew nearly 10.6 million total viewers, more than any regular-season or bowl game on the network. ESPN said Monday that the 7.3 rating was its highest for a college football game since Florida State-Miami 15 years ago.

Hindsight is 20-20, but thinking back, I wonder if the flea flicker might've been a good play to run during one of those 3rd and shorts. I am willing to bet that we would've gotten Mays to bite on that. Besides, it looks really cool.

Maybe I'm not listening to or watching the right media outlet, but I'm not hearing anything about a weak USC. Are they down a couple notches from their typical perch? Sure, but that doesn't mean they're not good. Overall, I've probably heard 50/50 on the positive to negative perceptions of how OSU performed. I don't find that to be horrible at all.
I have some friends in SoCal that are big USC fans and none of them thought it would be a blowout. In fact most felt there was a strong possibility that they'd lose this game. Their D looks just as strong this year as it was last year. In a way I'd like to see them make it to the BCS championship against Florida or Texas and see what those teams can do against them.
