Personally I don't think we got beat by a better team. Rather a team that made plays when they needed to in order to win the game.

Some might argue that making plays when you need to in order to win the game is the hallmark of a better team - or at least one of them.

When you get to the point of relatively equal on-field performance, making the crucial drive to take the lead, or the goal line stand to preserve it, has always been a defining characteristic of "better teams" - at least as opposed to teams that don't make those plays to win the game.

Speaking of jobbed. USC comes into the Shoe to play the #8 team, on the road, hostile crowd, wins and goes where in the polls? Nowhere. In fact they slip a bit in vote counts. Meanwhile Florida rolls over the Long John Silver impersonators and Texas has first half problems with WAC Pre Flight and their hold on 1 and 2 only grows.

Conclusion: OSU and the Big 10 are no longer considered much of an opponent in the minds of the voters?

This is a rhetorical question, right?

My point was: That it is a play here and a play there. They don't come up with the plays when they need to to win games. That does indicate a problem to me. I didn't point out 1 or 2 plays, I spoke of drives, plays, mistakes and missed opportunities. Any of which they capitalize on and that game goes the other way. You can't ignore a myriad of miscues/missed opportunities and pretend the game wouldn't have been different. I don't feel it is a personnel problem like the Nat'l media does. I think they have the talent on this team to win it all this year, definately next year.

My point was: TP has been given the keys to the car, despite some suggesting he hasn't been yet. He needs to start making better/quicker decisions. I put the crucial sack on 3rd and 3 that knocked them out of FG range on Pryor, not the coaches/ coordinator. Know down and distance and throw it away. The delay of game penalties are sometimes the fault of the staff for not getting TP the plays quick enough but the one I recall being called @ a crucial part of the game, TP was under center for a long enough time to read the defense and get the play off.

I do agree with you that TP needs to run the ball more. He is their best athlete on the field. There needs to be more designed running plays for him to keep the chains moving and keep their offense on the field. It blows me away how bad OSU's offenses has been during the Tressel years. I saw something the other day where I think I read that OSU has had an offense ranked nationally in the top 50 only 1 or 2 of the years he has been here. Conservative or not, you play in the Big 10. There is a pattern. The defense has been rock-solid for a number of years but you can't continue to rely on defense and special teams. Like I said, it works great against inferior Big 10 talent but not against the rest of the big boys around the country. I'm not talking Texas Tech spread em' out offense, but something does need to change.

While Gator expressed his sediments about your word-choice well enough; I for one want nothing to do with your sediments. I hope that my sentiments on the matter are not misunderstood.

Spending a good portion of my day on this board is a very sedimentary activity. I think I'll go play golf.

One of the french benefits fo being retired is to play golf where you can express your sediments any damn way you want.
