Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

I went looking for whatever thread you said this in over there, without much luck. What I did find is this thread...where they think the 2005 team is the best to ever play football. A team that we basically beat except for playing our best QB for only half the game and Ryan Hamby dropping the winning TD.

I hate losing as much as everybody....but I'll forever hate losing that game more than any other. We were better than them that night.
I have seen the Buckeyes lose games to teams they outplayed on several occasions, and while it is never pleasant, I try not to be butthurt over it. That said, I find Texas fans to be among the worst when it comes to gloating in a childish manner. They simply don't act like they have been there before, and it shows that despite what they think, they are simply not a blue blood program. They are a team that made its bones playing a bunch of glorified mid major in state "rivals" for years, and then avoiding playing Northern and West Coast teams via Jim Crow laws. They like top point and laugh that Ohio State has only 2 NCs in the last 40 years, while they have one 5 year period of relevance during the same time frame, and that window closed about 5 years ago.

It's literally all they have in the last 40 years, and are probably another decade away from their next scheduled 5-year window of relevancy.

Think about it, for almost all of them, they hadn't been there before 04-09. It was a hell of a run: 6 straight top 15 finishes, all in the top 10 except 2006. Go back the previous quarter century though, and they finish in the top 25 barely more times than they finish unranked (13-12). For the previous time that they strung 3 top 10 finishes in a row together, one has to go all the way back to 68-69-70. In other words a student who was at UT the previous time they had a run like 07-09 is collecting social security right now.

The other thing is that if you look at their all-time wins and winning percentage rankings, they slide down in rank the more you compress the time frame towards the modern era. So they are like Michigan (collective shaggy fist pump!) in that they built up a lot of wins in the leather helmet era before sliding back into the pack.

I'm no fan of Saban and Alabama, but they do deserve a little love for putting a pillow over Texas' face, snuffing that program out and sending it to wander in the desert for another twenty or twenty five years until they catch lightening in a bottle with another mentally handicapped quarterback. No fan of Miami either, but all love and respect for Randall "Thrill" Hill and his six shooters.

That thread does a fine job of supporting Woody68's claim.

It screams 'I've never watched a college football game that Texas didn't play'.

I watched that team. It wasn't in the top 10 all time let alone #1.

Fucking rodeo clowns.

I don't even have the heart to post how far away they are from banning me. I started with 1,005,000 and after three days of furiously negging me, I'm down to 885K, slightly over a 10% drop.

Some of them are tiring out about completing the task on their own and calling for blacklab to do an admin ban. Pussies giving up before even completing a fifth of their goal. That is why Texas fails.

That 2005 Ohio State team started 8 1st round draft picks (Holmes, Mangold, Ginn Jr., Gonzalez, Carpenter, Hawk, Whitner, Jenkins). By my count 22 future NFL picks overall, and at least another half dozen that made rosters as UFAs. That roster was loaded.

I like how their insults are the same, no matter who you are. Apparently I wear jorts and am a secret Aggy fan.
Not an original thought in their brains...
I mean....I like the Shag. I hardly ever go there, but I appreciate what it is. So ORD got worn out of their constant stupidity and cracked some jokes. I never thought they'd be this sensitive about it.

As noted earlier, Texas arrogance is as much about a deep insecurity of how the rest of the country sees them as it is actual pride. Not surprising at all that they would throw this shitfit when confronted with the notion that somebody who posts on their board might actually not be in love with everything UT.

To be honest, this is the most fun I've had with the shag in months.

According to one of them, I'm "just a #$%^ing wine wholesaler who went to a shit university.

First off, I'm a wine importer, which may not be the coolest job out there, but I'm hardly sitting in a cubicle producing TPS reports. Oh well, when I'm in Florence this October as an all-expenses paid guest of the Chianti Classico Consorzio, sipping a Negroni on some sidewalk cafe, I'll undoubtedly be tortured with the knowledge of how shitty my life is and how much better it could be had I gone to Tejas.

Secondly, as far as that shit university goes.......OOPS!
