Script Ohio (official thread)

Speaking of Script Ohio, I don't suppose anyone knows if you guys are planning on bringing your band for the game this year? Nebraska's first home Big Ten game, against the flagship program, I would think they would.

It'd be cool to finally get to see this in person. It's probably a pipe dream, but I'd love it.

I don't know for sure, but I hope so, and suspect that they'll be there. They were at TCF Bank in Minneapolis last season, which was the first game the Buckeyes played in that new stadium.

Nebraska fans are infamous for hijacking/dominating online polls, few years back ESPN did the "greatest team of all time" bracket and it ended up being 95 Nebraska vs 71 Nebraska in the finals.

Both legit contenders, BTW. Did both deserve to be in the Finals? Don't know about '71, but 1995 most certainly did.

Herbstreit threw a conniption at that, too. It was pretty funny, especially when the other folks on the panel told him both belonged, but Herby kept throwing a fit.

95 was a hell of a team, but for both teams to make it through it showed just how much Nebraska fans were stuffing the ballot box

The other teams with an argument over Nebraska '71, in my mind, are '45 Army and '72 USC. But they're all pretty close, so it's certainly not a travesty that '71 Nebraska made the final.

But the seeding of these little online voting tourneys has a big impact on how things tun out, along with whichever fan bases decide they care. Or decide that they don't, especially if it's an ESPN thing.

Absolutely. Everyone knows that.

As I've mentioned in this thread several times, these online polls are more lose than win. And when you can vote several times, they lose credibility.

If we lose to Script Ohio, we'll have lost to a worthy competitor. If we move on.... not sure we've really "won" anything.

Glenn Davis is sometimes overlooked in the discussion of who had the greatest college football career. Army was 27-0-1 in his 3 years, finishing #1 in the AP poll in '44 and '45, and #2 in 1946, behind the ND team that had the famous scoreless tie with Army that year.

Davis finished second in the Heisman in '44 and '45, when he averaged 11.5 yards per carry in each of those seasons. He won it in 1946.

I'd throw '01 Miami in there.

I didn't mention them because they had 2 close calls. A 2-point victory over VT, and BC was driving with a chance to win until a tipped interception was returned for a TD to make the final 18-7.

For me, teams in the discussion for the best team of all-time need to dominate almost everybody on the schedule, and it they had 1 close game, it needed to be against another great team, like '71 Oklahoma.
