Script Ohio (official thread)

they come out of the woodwork to use their bots. they don't win all these online polls because there are that many of them who vote.

I would like to think even Nebraska fans don't care that much about the mind numbing, useless polls ESPN and the like bombard us with daily.

You don't need a bot to vote 1000 times in one day. You don't even need more than 10 minutes to do so.

Well, thats a little much considering browser refresh rates because that would be almost 2 votes every second, but we're splitting hairs. I think you still would need to be doing something regarding masking your IP though because it looked like ESPN was only allowing people to vote from their IP address once a day, so people had to be doing something to get around that with their bots.

Well that's why you can have 4 browsers on one machine. And the logging was done via cookie, not IP address. Otherwise only one vote per company for anyone who voted at work. Then you add the Private browsing features available in most browsers now which don't save cookies. Then you add the fact that people have multiple machines.

I may have been exaggerating on the 10 minutes, but it's not far fetched for someone not to spend that much time voting multiple times.

There's fewer people out there that know how to write bots and use bots for voting than there are that know how to delete cookies from their computer.

The bots broke the poll. It stopped counting at 22,151,426 around 4:30am eastern time, with both teams stuck at 50%.

Serves ESPiN right for running such a stupid, easily screwed poll.

Thats hilarious :) 22 million votes, wow. It really would be impressive if it wasn't more than 40k people participating

Buckeye Fan Does "Script Ohio" On Google Maps

Jim Harbaugh may be the most passionate individual in college football, but Ohio State has to have the most passionate fanbase. To show just how much they support their team, a group of Buckeye fans walked 19 miles in order to spell out “Ohio” on Google Maps. The entire journey took 6.5 hours and was first published on Reddit’s Columbus site.
