Rose Bowl possibilities

That brings up an interesting hypothetical question... Well all know the Bucks will win out :wink2:, but if the Buckeyes have to lose one of the remaining games which would you rather it be? Go to the Rose Bowl, but actually lose to Michigan (wow, I don't know what that even feels like), or miss out on the Rose Bowl and beat Michigan for the 6th time in a row?

This is a no-brainer. Beat Michigan.

We went to the Rose Bowl after the 1996 season, but lost to Michigan. We finished #2 in the country. But that one loss stuck in the craw for a long time....

I agree 100%. But I know a lot of people out there are dying for the Rose Bowl.

Personally, I love the fact that my kindergartener hasn't been alive for a Michigan win. I hope to get him through college with that fact intact.

Easy question...easy answer. Michigan is the most important game of the year, every year, no matter what.

This

I don't much care for these cruel scenario type of hypotheticals. I just think we're a bit detached from the feeling of actually losing to Michigan that it's hard to put it in it's proper perspective

Definitely beat Michigan. Although I want the Rose Bowl badly, beating Michigan and going to the Capital One Bowl to fix our national image (vs. SEC 2/3, Bama or LSU most likely) is still a good thing to look forward to. I'm not sure going to the Rose Bowl and beating Oregon would qualify as a fix to our national image. They aren't necessarily a perennial power.

Of course, all of this is moot since we're going to beat the shit out of Iowa and scUM

I was sitting in the South stands and I can still see Shawn Springs slipping and Streets lumbering my way.

Make it stop.....

Great work BB73, only a small quibble.

I believe if Stanford wins out, Oregon State wins out, and Oregon beats Arizona, there will be a 4-way tie.

Arizona (beat Oregon State and Arizona, lost to Oregon and Washington)
Oregon State (beat Oregon and Stanford, lost to Arizona and USC)
Stanford (beat Oregon, lost to Arizona and Oregon State)
Oregon (beat Arizona, lost to Stanford and Oregon State)

I think Arizona wins the tiebreaker because of head-to-head over Oregon State after Stanford and Oregon drop out.

Great catch, thomps, how can you even conceive of 4 losses for USC? :wink2:

I edited my post, and added the other needed wins for Zona.

That's what I get for trying to finish that during NFL games on TV. :!

I think you mean ASU. Plus wouldn't Oregon State then win the tie breaker due to beating 2 of the 3 like teams?

When three or more teams are tied in Conference play, if one has defeated all others, it shall be the Rose Bowl representative. If that is not the case, a comparison of the tied teams' records against the other tied teams shall be made and the team having the best record against the other tied teams shall be the Rose Bowl representative.

Losing to THIS Michigan team and THIS Michigan coach would be the greatest disaster in the last century of The Game. Forget that. Lose the Rose or lose to Iowa and there's not 1/100th the shame that there would be in losing to scUM. The worse they are, the more the game matters.
