Boom is a fine back, but he isnt and will never be in the same class as Chris Wells
You can't say that right now. Boom is capable of producing just as much as Beanie did if not more. Yes, that isn't easy to imagine, but Boom hits the hole way harder than Wells already. No, he isn't 6'2, 240 pounds like Beanie, but he's tough and he'll only get better.
In 13 games as a freshman in 2006, Wells rushed for 576 yards & 11 TDs on 104 carries. Boom's totals of 89 carrries for 439 yards & 6 TDs, not to mention the fact that he never turned the ball over, were compiled in only 9 games because he got injured early in one game before he had a carry, sat out of the next two games, and didn't carry the ball in his first game back (he played through). Add 4 more games' worth of totals to Boom's statistics and his production is higher than Wells' was in 2006. Does that make Boom better? No, but as I have said over and over again, Boom doesn't let other people place limits on him. If he did, he wouldn't have even got offered by Ohio State to begin with, let alone play or start under any circumstances.
Knowing him personally, he isn't satisfied with just playing for Ohio State. He wants to be the best that he can be. He isn't trying to be Chris Wells, Eddie George, Archie Griffin, etc. He's trying to be Daniel Herron, and only he can define who he is. Only time will tell how far he goes, but he's focused on making himself better for himself, not to be another Chris Wells.
