Boom, that was a damn fine run, but I was really hoping that you were going to get tripped up at the 5. Kind of ironic that we had trouble punching it in when in the red zone all year and then on our last series we get some oline push and break a run when all we needed was to run out the clock and kick the field goal. Hindsight always 20/20 I guess.

Count me in amongst those that think we will be in good hands should BEANIE leave and BOOM takes over. He is tough, has great vision, decent speed and just gets it done. He will be bigger and better next year.

Throw in Berry, Hyde and Saine and we should have decent depth. I'm really excited to see what Berry can do and think we see him get quality playing time as a true freshman.

The thing about Boom is that he can see where the hole is and always breaks through. He doesn't have the power to shed tackles at the next level but does have the speed to pull away.

He doesn't shed tackles but he's crafty in the hole. You rarely get a clean shot on him and he always falls forward. He makes a 0 yard run 3 yards by turning sideays and falling forward vs. trying to find a way to hit a homerun.

The dropoff from Beanie to Boom will not be much. Several co-workers today said they were more impressed with Boom than they were with Beanie...

I think Boom will go a good job, but I find that statement to be ridiculous. Beanie is one of the best RBs to ever play at Ohio St. He is an exceptional back with a skillset that doesnt grow on trees.

Boom is a fine back, but he isnt and will never be in the same class as Chris Wells

You can't say that right now. Boom is capable of producing just as much as Beanie did if not more. Yes, that isn't easy to imagine, but Boom hits the hole way harder than Wells already. No, he isn't 6'2, 240 pounds like Beanie, but he's tough and he'll only get better.

In 13 games as a freshman in 2006, Wells rushed for 576 yards & 11 TDs on 104 carries. Boom's totals of 89 carrries for 439 yards & 6 TDs, not to mention the fact that he never turned the ball over, were compiled in only 9 games because he got injured early in one game before he had a carry, sat out of the next two games, and didn't carry the ball in his first game back (he played through). Add 4 more games' worth of totals to Boom's statistics and his production is higher than Wells' was in 2006. Does that make Boom better? No, but as I have said over and over again, Boom doesn't let other people place limits on him. If he did, he wouldn't have even got offered by Ohio State to begin with, let alone play or start under any circumstances.

Knowing him personally, he isn't satisfied with just playing for Ohio State. He wants to be the best that he can be. He isn't trying to be Chris Wells, Eddie George, Archie Griffin, etc. He's trying to be Daniel Herron, and only he can define who he is. Only time will tell how far he goes, but he's focused on making himself better for himself, not to be another Chris Wells.

The drop off is going to be there, Beanie was a pretty special back, but the rest of the offense should make it unnoticeable. Better QB, better Line, perhaps more explosive wideouts.

Also, as Worm said- Boom is more than capable of putting up the same production as Beanie. Beanie's stats, while certainly up there in OSU's record books, aren't unreachable (due to injuries, oline issues, etc.).

Boom will be more than serviceable. He runs hard. I love it.
