RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

I think Boom will go a good job, but I find that statement to be ridiculous. Beanie is one of the best RBs to ever play at Ohio St. He is an exceptional back with a skillset that doesnt grow on trees.

Boom is a fine back, but he isnt and will never be in the same class as Chris Wells

Mili, me thinks you've been hitting the grog a little too hard.

We shall see. Remember, I didn't claim Boom will be as good as Beanie, but he'll be a lot closer overall than many of you think.

Agreed. I've compared Boom to Pittman multiple times. If he can give that kind of production (1200-1300 yards), the dropoff won't be particularly noticeable. Especially with the offense going in a (presumably) different direction.

I tend to agree with you. Part of my agreement is because I believe that as time goes on Boom will end up with a much stronger O-line to run behind for the balance of his career. I expect next years line to be improved over this year and the following year to be a dominating offensive line.

No offense to the past offensive line, I just believe the younger talent will be stronger as they progress.

The wild card is how good Hyde and Berry will be. If they show up strong from day one they can be major factors and one of them could be strong enough to earn the starting job.

I hope he does approach Beanie-ness. He's got the tools and, as BL says, may benefit from an improved OL. The thing with Wells for me is the big runs. Lots of backs can hit those every now and then, but Beanie broke them consistently. As much as I liked Pittman, he didn't have that. Hopefully, Boom can be that back. Hell, I cheer for the little (relatively speaking) guy. I've got a lot more in common with Boom than Beanie.

Boom is a great back. No doubt about it, he is not a 1,600 yard back, but I do envision him getting 1,000 yards quietly much like Pittman. I think Boom will be a much better complement to Pryor than Beanie was. The running styles differ, and obviously size, but I think Boom will do a fine job. He has impressed every time I've seen him run this season. He runs hard, doesn't shy away from a hit and has good vision for a lack of PT behind Beanie. Pryor and Boom will make a very strong backfield, and I look forward to more Shotgun, Pistol and spread sets with these two. Best of luck Boom.

Alright boom, time to step up and take it to the next level. Keep bringing those moves (like on that last TD against UT with that quick cut, dudes jock was on the ground) and the speed and we are going to be in great shape with our RB's next year

Boom's problem is that he scores too fast. If he had dicked around, fallen on the five, forced the Bucks to take all four downs and forced Texas to take their two remaining time outs, Ohio State wins. Irony is a bitch.

Honest to God, when Boom got the handoff and you could see that he was going to score I yelled, "oh shit!" It was too soon, but, yeah, the ball will be in great hands next year. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if we hear that Saine wants to go where he can be the feature back. He isn't going to get many touches based on what I've seen the last half of this season.

Are you serious? Scoring too fast is a problem now? So, when Wells scored those 40+ yards TDs, that was a problem to? People on here say that they will miss Beanie because of his ability to hit home runs. Boom shows some flashes of that, and it's a problem? Maybe if he would have got more than 5 carries, then maybe, just maybe, he could have hit another home run or two.

We'll never know, but I do know that this is Boom's time to shine. No, Berry and Hyde aren't going to come in and lay down for him, but that will only bring the best out of Boom. Personally, I can't wait for next season, because Boom will only continue to prove his doubters wrong. Not calling you a doubter, but he'll only continue to handle his business.

i think some of that was sarcasm. i dont think he actually wanted boom to take a knee at the one. maybe im wrong. but im assuming hed agree scoring to fast is better than not scoring at all.
