RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Wells' presence boosts OSU on, off field

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- It's been 43 days since Ohio State's last game, but running back Chris "Beanie" Wells hasn't spent all this time preparing one of his patented pre-game pep talks.

"It ends up happening at the moment," Wells said. "I don't pre-write anything. I just say how I'm feeling."

Wells' off-the-cuff style resonates with his teammates, who look forward to hearing from their emotional leader, especially before big games like Monday's showdown against No. 3 Texas in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Fox, 8 p.m. ET).

"Very emotional," guard Steve Rehring said of Wells' speeches.
"He might have been more fired up than anybody in our locker room for the [USC] game," fullback Brandon Smith said, "and he didn't even dress."

"He is a difference maker," Ohio State senior tight end Rory Nicol said. "He does something to the morale of the team. It's like [cornerback] Malcolm [Jenkins] always says, a little spark kindles a great fire.

"Often times, he's that spark."

I'm surprised this is still in discussion. Are we going to still be claiming he's coming back after he's drafted?

Probably. You know how crazy us Buckeye fans are. Ask any one of us about Malcolm Jenkins' rookie year in the NFL, and the silly bastards will make up stories about him sealing the Wisky game with a pick! Fucking crazy ass Buckeye fans.

Malcolm blocked the field goal when we tied Wisconsin

The sooner you accept it, the less disappointed you'll be when the inevitable happens.

I don't know, will you still be there to drop little annoying quips about how he's been loooooonggg gone for the past 2 seasons in response to us? As if you have a clue what's going through his mind.

You treat this like we're going to fucking jump off a bridge if Beanie decides to jump early, we're not expecting anything to happen, we just prefer to look at the glass being half full, because its more fun to think about Beanie coming back than live as depressed as you guys are currently, when all you can do is come on here to rip on us about having a tiny bit of hope.

Millions...

Yeah, it's lots of millions;

For #5: 5 years, $51 million ($23M guaranteed)
For #11: 5 years, $19.4 million ($12.6M guaranteed)
For #15: 5 years, $15.8 million ($9.2M guaranteed)

Well, kind of sad. No it's not for certain, but most likely that was his last game.

We saw the best of Beanie (uh, hello, his running ability!) and the "worst" of Beanie (injuries) tonight.

I say "worst" not as a slight, it's just been something that has happened. Not his fault really.

Another 100 yard game on a big stage. I love Beanie!

I love Beanie. He is the heart and soul of the Buckeye offense and he's done so much for the program.

That said, if the difference between the top picks in the draft is indeed what is stated above:

Yeah, it's lots of millions;

For #5: 5 years, $51 million ($23M guaranteed)
For #11: 5 years, $19.4 million ($12.6M guaranteed)
For #15: 5 years, $15.8 million ($9.2M guaranteed)

then shouldn't Beanie think seriously about coming back? Beanie seems to get hurt pretty regularly and that might scare some teams away. Wouldn't a big (injury free) senior season make him some serious money? Or do you get while the getting is good?
