RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

If you care about the Beanie's future you will hope he's gone next year. He only has so many years left on those wheels.

I dont' want him back next year. I don't. Not one bit. He should leave after this year. He's proven he's a dominate back at this level and now it's time for him to go and get his millions like he deserves. For me (or any of us) to sit here and wish he comes back would be selfish of us. I would love to see him with OSU forever, but if it means him sustaining another injury then forget it.

The kids 240 odd pound. A target that big is going to be a bruiser no matter what and he's going to take a beating because of that. Sure his speed is great for a big man, but IMO not great enough to avoid NFL defenses. Backs like him don't last rediculously long in the NFL because of the punishment they take. So he needs to leave to maximize his NFL career instead of staying here and risking it all.

I see what you're saying. That's exactly what Eddie George did in the NFL, and I see Beanie having at least 8-12 seasons in the NFL.

However, I don't necessarily agree about being selfish wanting him back next year, though...

I think it would be selfish if we wanted him back just to see him in the program again. We'll have other great backs ya know? He's a great guy, works hard, and has all the talent in the world. It would truely hurt to know he came back for a senior year and then like tore up a knee or something. Which ends up being cronic like Mike D'andrea's and never plays ball again.

Sure he can easily get injured in the NFL but he'll atleast get through his rookie contract first and get paid millions for his efforts. I personally feel it would be selfish if we hope he comes back just for our personal satisfaction.

I mean if Beanie comes out and restates he's not going pro. Then yeah I will surely be happy he's here but I would not be upset if he stays. Infact I would be nervous for the guy all year next year if he were to stay, and would feel good for him if he just left. It would just be in his best interest. Like Tressel says if you're a first rounder you have to go.

I think Beanie will stay. He's missed a lot of the season already, and depending on how he finishes it, he may have a lot to come back for next year. Not to mention he has been involved in 3 big game losses (none his fault), and you can probably assume he doesn't want to go out like that. We have USC week 2 next year, and that's a chance for him to get some redemption. Also that whole he wants to win a heisman thing. It would take something unheard of for him to do that now, so he's got that going for him as well.

I couldn't blame him if he left because he wil surely be a top 5 pick, but I think he will stay for his last year just like a lot of guys did this year. Then again I figured the same for Gonzo, Ginn, Gholston, and Pittman....

Beanie is gone after this year. Period. Stop wasting time pondering a "decision", because there isn't one to be made.

Hey let me have my hopes lol. A lot of people thought other guys would of gone last year so....

Wouldn't shock anyone if he left though, his stock couldn't be much higher.

I'm not sure Beanie would be a top five pick at this point. If he finishes very strong, then probably so, but it depends on how much he gets in this year. Draft scouts are weary of players that have had injury problems. It's not a toughness thing, it's more of a type of superstition. Some players are just injury prone and that will lower your draft stock. Right now, I get the feeling that Beanie would be considered injury prone.

In my eyes, Beanie only has two real things left to accomplish at Ohio State: He will go and defeat Michigan at home, and he will go and lead the team to a Rose Bowl victory. After that, every touchdown he scores in the NFL should reflect positively on our program.

What have we seen here at tOSU that makes you think Beanie will last 4 yrs in the NFL, much less 8-12. Poor kid is a battering ram and has had a load of injuries. It's hard to see him playing anywhere near 8 yrs. ....all the more reason he will need to go to the league as soon as possible. Undoubtedly Beanie has already come to that conclusion.

No, it isn't. It'd be selfish to criticize him for leaving but there's nothing wrong with wanting to see him stay in the S&G.
Absolutely it's selfish, but it's ok as a fan to hope for that, for the sake of your favorite team's success. When it crosses the line, imo, is thinking you know better than him or not letting him make his own decision.

Beanie's family is not exceptionally wealthy, and he's one of twelve kids. 12!

HE IS GONE, PEOPLE!

I'm not worrying about next year. I just want to see a healthy Beanie back on the field this year and as soon as possible.

Beanie is gone after this year. Period. Stop wasting time pondering a "decision", because there isn't one to be made.

1. I would think that Beanie gets financial advice. Someone is out there measuring the ponderables: how many backs in the class? Where does he stand in the class? How many backs in next year's class? Is the Heisman worth the risk? (hell no) High first round or low first round? Could that be imporved with another great year?

2. I would think that he's in touch with teammates in the pros. I've heard some regret leaving early and others happy with the decision. I myself would like to know what mssrs Long, Hart and Henne have to say.

3. There's going to be a huge change in offensive style next year. Headlines are going to be on Pryor, on the offense ad receivers. The defense is probably going to have a totally new look too with Lauranitus and Freeman gone. And as the Wolverine trio found out, you can lose a dream season in a heart beat and then what?

But the only thing I see that could keep him here would be if he can't go again this season and given the type of injury that would not surprise me. If he can't go, or does, but looks tentative, then the question marks are going to pop up and he might slip to second round in which case I'd think he stays.
