There were a couple of times during the MSU game where it looked like Beanie had reaggrivated the ankle and was motioning to the sideline for a rest. He hobbled off and I was like, "Oh, here we go again." But, he was right back in there and broke off big run after big run. I have a lot of respect for Beanie, and if this ankle injury is one that is bad enough to where it needs surgery and he keeps playing on it? We've a got a warrior right now at RB. Beanie is on a mission, just like the rest of the team, to prove himself to the nation that he is one of the premier backs in the country. If he can get through the season, and we remain perfect, that rest he will have from the scUM game to the National Championship is going to be great. I can't wait to see him on a good ankle with more than a few days rest.

I imagine that using a stiff arm at that speed and level of competition is difficult. You have so much else going on that the game has to be slow enough for you mentally to let you add another "activity". CDub's use of the stiff arm is evidence, along with his excellent vision and ability to apply it, of natural talent. A back playing his first fulltime season really shouldn't be as good as Beanie often is.

He's definitely setting an example for the rest of the team. Showing them that they need to play through a little bit of pain to help the outcome of a game and the year. I'm damn proud to be a Buckeye fan.

`Beanie' Carries Rare Potential

It's one thing to be compared to good players, even great players, but Chris "Beanie" Wells, a sophomore at Ohio State, was being compared to one of the greatest running backs of all time - coming out of high school.

And we're not talking about former Buckeyes tailback Archie Griffin, the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner, or anyone else on the list of great running backs to come out of Ohio State, including Eddie George and Keith Byars.

The guy he was being compared to has a history in the state of Ohio - in Cleveland, not Columbus - but he was a Long Island kid who played at Syracuse.
