I think with a new coach all the positions are up for grabs. It is going to be hard to beat out Miller at the quarterback position; but I really don't think there are too many "locks to start" for any other position. He competes, if he is the best back; he'll start. The problem that most freshman running backs have isn't running the ball. It is their blocking assignments and fumbles. If he learns his blocking assignments and is able to hold on to the ball; I believe that he'll do real well.

More than likely several backs will get significant carries and I see him in the mix with Hall and Hyde.

You have to be careful with hearsay. This could have very easily been lost in translation. I think the staff would have been playing with fire to set the expectations of these kids that nothing was going to happen. There were some interesting comments that suggested the staff sort of saw the bowl ban coming and set kids expectations appropriately. I bet the most likely scenario is that Urban told him anything additional won't impact Dunn--which is most likely true since he will likely not get a ton of touches in 2012 anyhow. I think how solid the commitments seem in the face of all of this is testament to where the staff set their expectations. That, or Urban is one hell of a salesman and has them believing in the force this program will become in the next 2-3 years.

At Florida, was Percy Harvin a wide receiver or a running back?

Well, Harvin rushed 194 times for 1852 yards and 19 touchdowns ... and he had 133 receptions for 1929 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Urban will find ways to get the ball into the hands of his playmakers, regardless of what position they play.

And.......back to Dunn.

What I'm most intrigued about is what Meyer might do with a heavy-duty back like Dunn. I know they had Wynn down at FL for a while, but I'm not sure they've had anyone quite like Dunn. Will be fun to see how he uses a weapon like Dunn.

I can see Dunn and Ball both being able to run out of Urban's I-formation...the question is which one will be the better option in a few years when it comes to Urban's zone read rushing attack. I think it would be interesting to see what a big back like Dunn can do in the option read game which involves some downhill running.

Urb will have packages for big backs, and then his normal spread packages. I like this because you can beat a defense down with the Power-I, then bring in your faster back and start spreading them out.

Doing what you're suggesting would be devastating while running a no huddle. The defense could not switch personnel to match up well. My favorite half of football during the entire Tressel era was the first half of last year's Sugar Bowl.

Best comparison i can think of was Blount at oregon. He averaged 7 yards a carry while at Oregon. Thats pretty darn good, C.Wells only averaged 5.5. The spread gets people in space, so I would imagine that would be less people for a big back to run over. Only thing that concerns me about the spread is that great defenses can close quickly in space.

As long has dunn has an explosive first step he should do great. I think thats why Boom has been really good, he just picks the best hole and explodes through it.

But who will be our faster RB in 2 yrs after hall is gone. I would think that by then our roster would be filled with big rbs: Smith, Hyde, ball and Dunn. And our 2 top RB prospects in 2014 are ty Isaac and Derrick green, all of the rbs seenmm to have similar body types

Well, given that Tebow was Meyer's "big" back... Braxton Miller should be able to cover it.

Also, Meyer will be using guys like Davonte Neal and Jalin Marshall as a serious change of pace for the bigger backs.

Just watched some of his highlights...

I came away most impressed by his vision. His flim reminded me a lot of Beanie's because of how well he could pick his spots and get downhill with anger. I'm really excited to see him in action and I hope he can get here early and play in the spring game.

Warren Ball might not be 4.3 speed, but that kid can move especially east and west. Hyde and Dunn are big, but they're both fast too. Hyde was the fastest on the team last year, and Dunn ran a 4.6 something at a camp which isint a bad time. There are some good RBs in the state for the '13 class, also Ty Issac and Derrick Green. And im sure Urb will offer a few Florida RBs.
