QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

IMO, If Miller was a senior and Guiton was a sophomore or a freshman, there wouldn't be a conversation at all. I think much of the "controversy" and debate is made up from emotional attachment that Guiton won't have a chance to showcase his skills because he will be leaving the university after this year.

I say we need to start Miller under center. He is our starting QB. Did Guiton play well? Yes, yes he did. But when you are a QB - first string or second - at a top 5 program like Ohio State, you are EXPECTED to come out and play well. You are typically the heir to the starting thrown and therefore you should know how to play like a Buckeye QB. Ohio State doesn't recruit scrubs and hope they come in and pan out. They seach out top tier players because they know they will be able to transition to a starting role quite seamlessly - especially when you are playing teams like FAMU and SDSU.

Kenny did awesome as a back up. He will forever be thought of as a "true Buckeye" and he deserves the love. But he is not Braxton. He just isn't. I hope Braxton learned from KG though. Urb is most impressed with KG's game management and ability to make the correct read. Hopefully the time on the sideline with the headphones has helped Braxton learn from him. Let me put it this way, KG made the awesome drive AND 2 point conversion to beat Purdue but could he have scrambled against Wisky and throw the long ball to beat them like Brax did a few years ago, or his goal line scramble TD against PSU last year? There are things KG does better than Brax but the margin of superiority is minimal. There are things Brax does better than KG and they are not marginal at all IMO.

I find it interesting that 97.1 is playing excerpts from Meyer's radio show today that make it sound like there still might be a hint of doubt in his mind about who he's starting.

On the show, Urban said, "We're starting Braxton..."

There were no "IFs".

Here is my opinion with the Kenny and Brax on the field at the same time....

I feel that Brax is just as good and most likely a better passer than Kenny. I would say that Brax vs. Guiton in the passing game is a wash.

I do not agree with the bold text. I think it is well established that the reason Braxton is our starting QB is because of his ability to make huge plays in the running game, and his intangiblies, not because of how good a passer he is. That's not to take anything away from him, but IMO, Kenny is more consistant in the passing department. Yes, he played against some crap defenses, but the one thing I see when I watch him, is that he puts the passes where the receiver wants them.

First, I'd love to see them both go off for about 350 yards and 5 scores each in every game.

That being said, IMO that 2 point conversion might have been the hardest throw either QB made all season. I have seen that pass overthrown a million times in less critical situations.

As for the rest of the bolded, would Kenny of had to? The question is actually unfair to ask. Did Braxton make all of the correct reads in those games, or were the heroics required because he missed some critical ones? Would Kenny have made reads that would of put us up well before the need for heroics? I don't know the answer to either.

This is 2013 however and the offense is a lot more potent. As far as the Wisconsin game goes if you give me 2 choices

A. Kenny or Braxton make the correct read throughout the game and have a 21 point lead and the ball with 90 seconds left in the game.

or

B. Braxton plays okay then makes a play with 90 seconds left in the fourth to win 27-24.

I'll choose A all day long.

You just have to know that Wiscy will target Brax's knee so expect to see Kenny G. finish the game and play terrific, again. This is basically what the rest of the season will look like. Until Brax starts running out of bounds or learns to slide, teams will go after his knee. Next year we better have a good backup QB ready from the get go.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller (vs. Wisconsin, 8 p.m. ET, ABC): As a pro prospect, Miller is the wild card of college QBs. And while there's a split on how he's viewed, scouts going through Columbus this summer were impressed with the progress and command that Miller displayed in two-a-days. One executive compared Miller to Donovan McNabb and said: "The thing that was so impressive, he was controlling the whole thing (during practice). Urban (Meyer) stepped up to the line, and Braxton asked him to step back and really directed everyone on where to go. ... He can be the whole package. He's got it." Now Miller must prove it on the field; he can show how far he's come when he returns from a sprained MCL against the Badgers.
