QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Scout.com: Underclassmen At The Crosstown

Braxton Miller - QB - 2011
Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne
Pledge: Open Class of 2011

Miller despite the foul weather showed why many consider him the top prospect in Ohio for the Class of 2011 and one of the top in the country in leading his team to a 21-4 victory. Miller tossed for a 19-yard touchdown pass and also scored on a 1-yard run on the night. Only a junior, Miller showed great poise and no effects from the injury that cut his sophomore season short. Miller has a strong arm that allows him to deliver the ball on the run but he's even more dangerous if he's running the ball as he can hit the edge and be a hard player to bring down.

Max Preps: Recruiting Roundup

Braxton Miller, QB, Wayne (Ohio): It?s hard to call one of 2011?s top prospects a sleeper, but Miller?s sophomore season was cut short by a right leg injury, so he?s playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. After a sloppy victory against Princeton, Miller has a real test this weekend against a rejuvenated Canton McKinley squad. McKinley features defensive end Steve Miller, who may rival Braxton as the state?s top recruit in 2011. If Buckeye fans have their wishes, both will end up at Ohio State.

In the '11 rankings thread, Scout had this to say about Braxton:

"Braxton Miller (6-1/174/4.47) of Huber Heights, Ohio is the top prospect in the Midwest," said Midwest Manager Allen Trieu. "He's a special talent who can pass and run with equal efficiency and also has that knack for making it happen when plays break down."

Ohio Scout Dave Berk agrees. "Miller can do it all, beat you with his arm (throw 70-yards) or his legs (40- 4.45) on the field. But it's his presence in the huddle and as a leader that makes him one of the top quarterba

Scout $ - Miller Feels Blessed

9/3

By Berk...knows he at least has official offers from Ohio State, West Virginia, Michigan, Cincinnati, UCLA, Georgia, Illinois, Purdue, Miami (FL) and LSU...talks about how blessed he is to receive all the offers and about the tough teams he will face the next two weeks (Canton McKinley, Glenville).

Wayne struggled early against McKinley trailing 7-6 at the half. But Braxton Miller stepped up and took over in the second half winning 27-14. Questionable QB keeper at the end of the game when the offense was lined up in "victory" formation, and took the ball up the field for 25+ yards. Miller received an earful from head coach Minton. The talk after the game should be interesting.

I got to see Braxton play tonight against Canton McKinley. He led Wayne to a 27-14 victory over the Bulldogs. McKinley decided that Braxton wasn't going to beat them with his legs, so he didn't face much of a pass rush. I came away quite impressed with his throwing ability. He certainly has plenty of arm strength, especially for a kid barely halfway through his HS career. He threw 2 TD passes, both of which carried at least 40 yards through the air. The second was particularly impressive, as he was scrambling left on 3rd and 11, pulled up short of the line of scrimmage and threw a strike to a teammate waiting in the endzone. All game he did a good job of keeping his eyes upfield while running. For good measure, he also added a 20ish yard rushing TD to ice the game, one of the few times McKinley didn't contain the rush.

edit: We left when Wayne got the ball back for Victory formations, so apparently I missed that adventure.

Yeah I guess they were trying to keep the ball from going back into McKinley's hands... Apparently the player who tackled Miller, put his foot on the back of Miller's helmet and Miller threw up the diamond like Jay-Z always does.... He was flagged for unsportsmanlike, and the coach pulled him out of the game immediately. In HS football if you are tossed from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct, unnecessary roughness, etc., you sit for the next game. So Jay Minton pulled him out of the game to avoid not having Miller for the Wayne-Glenville game coming up this Friday. I'm am pumped for this game. Haven't been to a Wayne game since early last year, and what better game to be welcomed back to than the speedy Tarblooders!
