QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

This is complete nonesense.

Boeckman has no chance of starting and will be 3rd string. I know everybody wants golden boy to take control and lead this team, and he would do a good job. He won't win us a National Championship, Troy Smith is the guy that can lead and the players believe in based on self confidence. JZ played great in the bowl game, but didn't do anything to take the starting job back. Boeckman is not even in the equation unless injuries occur.

Folks, this thread makes a lot of sense. I posted before that there is some Ohio State QB talking to the Griz about transferring.

When does the semester start? We will know soon enough when you are missing a QB at the start of class.
First, tOSU is on the Qtr system....

Second, there is no transfer in the works right now. Dream all you want, but it ain't happening

Boeckman's name has been praised every single time the coaches were interviewed practically. I agree that JZ didn't take the starting job back, but put that in perspective. He was hurt the majority of the time Smith looked mediocre. Smith made some minor improvements against MSU, with Zwick still ailing. Zwick was more ready to go against Purdue, but Smith played a pretty good game with just a few inexperienced mistakes. And I don't think we have to explain to you what happened against uM.

So there really wasn't anytime when Zwick was healthy that Smith faltered. Plus I doubt its very easy to come back from an injury like his and not be a few steps behind. So I'd say that Zwick's benching until the suspension really doesn't tell us anything.

If I were Smith, I would hit the road.

I think he is gonna Ride the Pine.

I think he is gonna get Booed outa the stadium the first time he finds the

field.
I don't cae how much Tress wants to help him learn from this

experience, I don't think Smith can look Geiger in the eye any more.

And while Geiger is stepping down, it is not until after Spring Ball.

I would transfer to a Division II school, try to put up some gaudy numbers,

and enter the draft after next year.

I would certainly hope that the Buckeye faithfull have more class and respect for their team than to do that.

I also strongly disagree with the notion that Smith ought to transfer. While he gave the university a black eye at the height of the MoC story, it's the real scumbags-the robert bakers of the the world that need to get the hammer handled down on them. Smith in all likelihood will get two games of suspension, and that's that. Besides giving Ohio State a black eye like over a dozen others have done under Tressel, his actions hopefully and in all likelihood will not result in long term reprecussions for the university.

The only chance of Boeckman starting is if Smith is sitting on the bench, due to either rust or punishment, and Zwick is not playing up to par.

Sounds like someone's been drinking from the ESPiN wine again, and been skipping their much needed diet of objective journalism. Despite the bashing ESPiN has been doing during every one of their broadcasts, many reporters still state taht he is probably one of the greatest ADs of all time. Even if he handled the Clarett situation incorrectly (there is no way to 'handle' clarett, not even his best friends can), he still has done more for this university than only a select few (Woody, Archie, only a few others can compete with the blessings Andy had brought to this institution).

I think he was more referring to the fact that Geiger allready announced his retirement, and they are looking for a replacement.
That makes him a "lame-duck," I dont believe he was referring to the job he has done as AD.

I would have more respect for Troy if he sucked it up and toughed it out on the bench with scout team. If he takes his medicine like a man I think eventually he could earn more playing time. Everyday all over the world boys become men. Some boys need a little push wether it be a positive one or a negative. Some boys just never seem to make that jump. Some boys just do the right thing because its in their nature. Let's see which one of these is Troy Smith.

About Boeckman being third string. If he is its because Tressel wants JZ for the experience not because he's not good enough.

Wishing this kid gets booed at Ohio Stadium is bullcrap. He will either sack up, earn his spot back or slip into obscurity and transfer after next year. Wishing ill will on the kid is juvenile.

Troy didn't sue the University. He didn't accuse the coaches of payouts. He made a serious mistake in judgement trying to rectify what that asshole MoC started in the first place.
