QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Our thinking about Smith shaving points is a hell of a lot different from his actually doing so. Just like this Baker jocksniffer saying "I own him" is a hell of a lot different from his actually owning Smith.

BucksinFL, you and I agree that maintaining integrity in the program is paramount. And Troy Smith has threatened this integrity by his foolish actions. I believe, however, that dismissing him at this moment would be premature and counterproductive. But I respect your viewpoint.
I respect yours too and I know I may be jumping the gun on kicking TS off the team or whatnot and jumping to a conclusion about this booster actually owning him and making him shave points. Just worries me a bit, ya know? If that kind of thing happened and was proven, that'd be it for the OSU football program for a while and JT's job.

That's the problem with something like that. That doubt is always there.

Suppose Troy comes out and plays lights out one week then goes in the tank the next week. Why did that happen? Sure everyone has a bad game, but that question about "is Troy playing for OSU or for the gambler?" will be there.

A thought

Maybe AG and JT think TS can cause more problems outside than inside the program.ne. MC Or maybe they think we recruited him we are going to stick with him instead of cut and run like they did wth MC. I was always torn on what to do wit MC in the summer of 2003. We recruited him, he's a member of our family if things were done while he was at tOSU we should've taken any punishment with him. I still think the program was clean but we could've done more for MC if AG and DT wanted to. IMO

I too believe that the program is clean. However, stating that AG and JT could have done more with MoC leaves out the possibility that MoC may have been afforded everything (help-wise) from AG and JT, but didn't heed it. Remember that you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it.

There is no way. MoC is a little punk-ass prima dona headline chaser, who doesn't care about anyone, or anything, except his own glory. He wants attention, good or bad, and he wants everyone to focus on him. There isn't a damn thing tOSU, Geiger, or Tressel could have done for him that they didn't. If you ask me, they did way too much for him, and for way too long. If I was coach, I would have benched his ass for a couple of games after the Spencer sideline incident, and I would have sat him for more after all his melodramatic bullshit that he pulled the week before the Fiesta Bowl. I will stick to my earlier statements, in that I trust Tressel and Geiger to do the right thing, but to say that they didn't do enough for MoC is just simply asinine.

So, where do you really stand on this guy, FKA! :slappy: Man, I wish I had written that. So wonderfully clear and I really appreciate the attention to detail and accuracy. "Where's the money, Mommy?" may be the most self-centred, destructive person I ever heard of in college football.

As far as he is concerned, in my opinion, it's time to flush!

Troy Smith will start the Texas game next year. All is forgiven once the pads go on again. Tress likes to help his players get their lives in order and help them to mature but he also knows he has a real contender for the N.C. next year. Justin will flop in spring and the players will lobby for Troy. Stupid-ass or not, he's our best Q.B. and everyone knows that, including our lame-duck A.D.

I meant no offense by "lame duck", only describing his situation as it is. And yes I did see the Alamo Bowl in which we pummeled an inferior opponent with our B quarterback and our punt returner taking snaps under center. Smith in the lineup is the way to go in my opinion is all I was trying to convey. There's no need for name calling.

Folks, this thread makes a lot of sense. I posted before that there is some Ohio State QB talking to the Griz about transferring.

When does the semester start? We will know soon enough when you are missing a QB at the start of class.

Sounds like someone's been drinking from the ESPiN wine again, and been skipping their much needed diet of objective journalism. Despite the bashing ESPiN has been doing during every one of their broadcasts, many reporters still state taht he is probably one of the greatest ADs of all time. Even if he handled the Clarett situation incorrectly (there is no way to 'handle' clarett, not even his best friends can), he still has done more for this university than only a select few (Woody, Archie, only a few others can compete with the blessings Andy had brought to this institution).
