QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

He threw it to Flacco. Special package.

Yeah, the "Suggs Package":

Ravens use defense, catch by Flacco to top Raiders

Using their own version of the single wing, the Ravens (4-3) inserted Smith at quarterback and used Flacco as the wide receiver on the left side. Baltimore coach John Harbaugh joked the formation was called the "Suggs Package," a reference to linebacker Terrell Suggs' assertion that Smith should be the starting quarterback.

Troy is such a great athlete. He could honestly play wide receiver or be a scat back. I look for the Ravens to use him like that kind of athlete to open up more pass plays like that. Honestly, Smith is such a talent. He has to be used in some fashion. The Ravens are in the kind of tough situation that every team wishes they could be in. God knows that the Steelers took advantage of it during the 90s with Kordell Stewart as Slash. Just being on the field at the NFL level will help Troy progress as a player and a QB. And, when he does get his shot, trust me, he has the QB skills from college and the NFL to succeed, unlike Stewart. Great to see the Wolverine Killer having some fun!

He could be a lot of things. But Troy is a quarterback.

I agree that Troy will shine when he gets his shot. But, I wouldn't dog Kordell too much. I wouldn't call him great, or even good, but he had a couple solid years and led the Steelers to two AFC title games. He is also second all-time in rushing TDs for a QB, trailing only Steve Young.

I don't know what that play does re: the QB situation, but Flacco appears to be a far more reliable receiving target than Mark Clayton. He really had to extend to reel that in and just missed the TD once his body got ahead of his feet. Good grab by the rookie QB.

Was that paraphrasing or did he actually say word for word, "Troy Smith sucks"?

I didn't believe it when I read it, so I dug up the audio. He actually says word for word at the 11:10 mark -

"Troy Smith is not an upgrade over Joe Flacco. Troy Smith sucks. He's not an accurate passer. He reads one receiver and then he gets out of the pocket and runs. At least with Flacco, you're gonna have a guy in the pocket who's gonna stand there, go through his progressions, and maybe evolve into a professional quarterback. Troy Smith will never evolve into a pro quarterback. Never."

What a fucking piece of shit

After praising the second coming of christ, Matt "matty ice" Ryan he proceeds to rip Brett Favre and says he's never been particularly smart, in reference to his convo with Matt Millen. But to say Troy sucks and he'll never be a Pro Quarterback?!?? I hope they find him in a car trunk outside of Philly.

Harbaugh: Expect more of 'Suggs Package'

Two-quarterback alignment featuring Flacco, Smith will be 'viable part' of offense for the remainder of the season, Ravens coach says

By Jamison Hensley | [email protected]6:03 PM EDT, October 27, 2008 When the Ravens travel for the next three weeks, they'll be packing something extra for the road.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said "The Suggs Package" -- the team's two-quarterback alignment that captivated everyone's attention in Sunday's 29-10 victory over the Oakland Raiders -- will be a "viable part" of the offense for the rest of the season.

"We could see using that package every game," Harbaugh said at today's news conference. "People playing against us are going to have to be prepared for it every week. We're just scratching the surface of the things that we have in."

Continued.....

Glad to see Troy getting some PT.
