QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

You can see Troy's TD pass in this video.. NFL Video Galleries

Looks like a pretty good throw. Made it on the run, outside the pocket. The play was designed for him to run outside the pocket, however. No hesitation whatsoever. But that's expected when the TE doesn't have a defender anywhere near him. :tongue2:

I really want Troy to get a shot.. Flacco has earned the job. I was a Flacco doubter, but he has looked damn impressive. San Francisco could use a QB.

What's he doing these days? Who would be better to fit right in to their offense? Kolb or Smith?

It's not like Philly's offense is predicated on McNabb's mobility. Kolb is their guy and they likely him enough to take him where they took him, so he's definitely the heir to the throne.

The Jets are one of the few teams where their quarterback situation could turn real ugly real quick. Favre retires, Clemens isn't the real deal, and Ainge has one year in the league: recipe for disaster considering all they spent in free agency.

The Vikings would be viable as well, since Frerotte is ancient and Jackson looks like a bust. Detroit is in a similar situation, but they haven't tested the Stanton waters yet. St. Louis is kind of in limbo, as is Carolina, albeit to a lesser extent. San Francisco is similarly disadvantaged.

I could actually see the Cowboys trying to sign him to back-up Romo and I could even see Philly making a pass at Troy, but the only team that I think might even look at giving him a starting spot would be San Francisco, and that would only be if Mike Singletary suddenly become Troy's number one fan.

As a Jets fan I would be absolutely thrilled to see Smith taking snaps from Mangold next year.

Flacco today versus a good Steelers D 11 for 28 115yds 2 int's. Sorry I'm just not sold on him. Could just be my huge bias to see Smith take the helm. Nah.

Flacco has earned the job. A bad performance against the Steelers shouldn't be held against any rookie QB, especially one who has done excellent for the most part this year.

Can't knock an 8-5 record. I am just as giddy to see Troy play as anyone else, and truthfully with that defense, I think Troy colud also have a great W-L record but Flacco has had a great rookie season.

My guess is Troy resigns in Baltimore knowing hes backup QB. That sickness was the worst break ever for Troy...could have been the opportunity he needed to become an NFL starter. I really feel like he'd have the same record as Joe, and the media would be all over his nuts like they are with Flacco...but missing that chance, was an unfortunate event.
