Just saw this on a few of the blogs out there, EDSBS has the best article of them all...

That makes no sense to me. Why the hell would he be wearing a NIU Helmet? Very confused....

The only thing that I don't like about the Bucs drafting TS is that he may be thrust into the starter's role too early. Sims has proven ineffective even when he's healthy, and Gradkowski has no business being a starting QB in the NFL.
With Smith's film study habits he may be a prime candidate to be an immediate starter. I usually say that a QB should sit a year and learn. Troy is not what I would call your usual QB. He's athletic, he can make all the throws, and he's smart enough, and hard working enough to study his ass off. I wouldn't mind seeing him inTampa, and start right away. Plus we'd get to see him throw to antoher former #7 Buckeye.

OSU's Smith continues to impress

Quarterback's arm strength has scouts buzzing, and he hit a beautiful deep throw.

MOBILE, Ala. ? It was cold and windy on Day 2 of practice at college football's Senior Bowl all-star game, but Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith remained sizzling.
Rather than taking a nosedive after the drubbing Ohio State absorbed in the BCS Championship Game against Florida, Smith's draft status appears to be rising. He has impressed the scouts and shows no signs of letting up.

from the article: Michigan standout Leon Hall solidified himself as the top defensive back on display by making big plays and being in the right spot more often than not. He had a number of pass break-ups during practice and drew raves from the Tampa Bay Bucs coaching staff.

scouts would do well to note the ease with which Troy beat him...

Just to bring this back up. What is Kiper's problem. He basically saying Troy sucks in his article about the Senior bowl practices, but whoever writes the QB evaluations is saying Smith is shining. Kiper saying lacking Arm strength and accuracy. Other guy saying Smith has the best there. What a douche.

Ego. Rather than admit that he's wrong, he would rather keep saying the same things, hoping that someone will believe him. This is why his picks are rarely ever right come draft day.

I wouldn't worry too much about it--everyone's been singing Stanton's praises so far this week, yet Kiper still finds negative things to say about him also.

Kiper aside, it sounds as though Troy is solidifying himself as a solid 2nd round candidate (see the Senior Bowl '07 thread for updates). In the end, Troy not using up his franchise's first round pick may lead to a better chance for success in the long run.

I don't know about that. I seem to recall some articles from ESPN about how right his draft picks were... Kiper just loves to have his ego stroked. :shake:
