QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

In fairness, they do have two WR's from Oregon State on the same team. I wonder how many other scouts thought Chad and T.J. would be good.

But wasn't Chad a highly touted player before he went to Oregon St.? I thought he had so many off the field problems that he couldn't get into one of the big name schools. I could be completely wrong but that's what I remember.

yesterday on mike@mike they reported that smith and stanton improve to be drafted in 1st or early 2nd rounds

today, on cold pizza they said smith dropped to a 3rd rounder.

It was be reported from the senior camps.

I think he's still early-mid 2nd... his arm and accuracy has been pretty impressive at the practices, but the obsession over height is going away.

I have the same thoughts but, that old guy on cold pizza keeps saying the dumbest sh,,, and he's still on. He even keeps saying negative stuff about Lebron james as an average player not a star. He might need some viagra to help his head:)

Really too early to say where Troy will go. A real picture will begin to take shape after the combine.

Exactly, anyone can say anything about when or where he is going to go in the draft. Until the combine is over, we probably wont have a real good picture. We will just have to wait and see on draft day, hopefully on the first of the two draft days.

I'd listen to Mike and Mike and ignore Cold Pizza.

Golic is an ND guy, but he's honest. Whereas the two idiots on cold Pizza wouldn't know objectivity if it bit them in the ass.

[FONT=arial,sans-serif]Senior Bowl report: Scouts suspect Troy Smith won't be a first-round pick
pd_clear_sm.gif

2:21 p.m.

MOBILE, Ala. ? The North team, featuring 15 Big Ten players - including four from Ohio State - finished its final full practice for the Senior Bowl this morning. The South will hold its final practice this afternoon.

Some news and notes:

* The opinions on Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith range widely, though a consensus seems to have formed that his chances of going in the first round are unlikely. Some scouts and analysts say Smith has clearly been the best quarterback here, which seemed apparent this morning watching the wobble on the longer passes of Michigan State?s Drew Stanton. Others think he has been average here and hasn?t helped or hurt his stock.

SENIOR BOWL: Q&A WITH OHIO STATE'S TROY SMITH
QB measuring up for the next level

Thursday, January 25, 2007Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Mobile, Ala. ? Troy Smith?s little smile made it clear he won a little victory at the Senior Bowl this week by measuring a little bigger than some scouts expected.
His height will continue to be an issue through draft day, and Smith did come in an inch shorter than listed in the Ohio State media guide. But at least his height started with a six ? ?Six feet even,? he said with a hint of pride ? when measured earlier in the week as part of the preparations for Saturday?s Senior Bowl.

Troy Playing for Chucky (Gruden)

My thoughts, which are biased by the local media here in Tampa Bay.

I would love to see him down here!

The only thing that I don't like about the Bucs drafting TS is that he may be thrust into the starter's role too early. Sims has proven ineffective even when he's healthy, and Gradkowski has no business being a starting QB in the NFL.

Simms looked very bad in 06 in the 3 games he played. TB had two rookies on the O-line in 06 and that is partially to blame for putting Simms out for the year with a lacerated spleen. In 05 he played well. I assume by the new contract TB gave him they still think he is a viable NFL QB.

Agreed on Gradkowski, he will likely not make the roster next year.

If TB drafts Troy it will be in round 2 due to a failure to land a big name QB in free agency. TB has a lot of needs and I can't see them using their first round pick on Troy.

Assuming he does get to TB, Gruden will not start a rookie unless he is forced to. This is the guy that dug up Rich Gannon off the AARP registry. Keep in mind if Gruden does not make it to the playoffs in 07 with a good showing he will most likely be fired. That guy likes verterans.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah, that's him. He's on my "To Kill" list.

Great Billy Madison reference. I can invision you smearing on heavy amounts of lipstick listening to oldies.

To answere your earlier question, Woody Paige is no longer on Cold Pizza. He moved to Denver to be with his sick sister or something of the like. This week is has been Skip Bayless and Pat Forde.
