QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I don't think the Browns will select TS in the second round. They'll get greedy, thinking that because they have a pick in the early part of the third round, Smith will still be available then. Whether he is or not likely will depend on how he performs at the combine.

See I want Troy to be a brown(I can watch him every week) I think it would be great for him if he was a Raven. Troy is the kind of guy who needs to learn, and he loves learning, who better to learn off of then the person who in my mind is the closest to Troy athletically. I can see him being a leader on that offense as well. For the browns, people might be envious of the attention he gets.

After watching a ton of highlight films of this year over again tonight (first time I've been able to bring myself to do it since the other game), I remember how damn good Troy Smith is. He can make plenty of NFL throws, and from inside the pocket too -- contrary to what the media and other naysayers have been pounding through my head lately. Through 12 games this year his timing, accuracy, power, and touch is as good as it gets.
While I'd love to see Troy revive the Browns, I think the team I'd most like to see him go to right now is the Bears. Coach Smith seems like the kind of guy that could be a great mentor to Troy. And with the Grossman situation I don't think there would be a ton of pressure for Troy to step up immediately while the door is open for him to compete and win the starting job. Even if he did take over earlier than expected, at first he just needs to not lose games given the way Chicago is setup. Give him 2 good RBs, a good OLine, and some decent receivers with a dominating D and I think Troy could really thrive there.

Smith Pushing Browns Hard to Draft Him

By TOM WITHERS
AP Sports Writer
CLEVELAND ? Usually the one avoiding pressure, Troy Smith is putting the heat on the Cleveland Browns.
Ohio State's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback is lobbying his hometown team to select him in April's NFL draft, and he isn't missing any chance to remind the Browns that he'll be available to them soon.

Here is The scouting report on Troy from Scouts, Inc. I got it from a Brown's site. If it is premium info, mods please edit.

Troy Smith
QB | (6'0", 210, 4.62) | OHIO STATE

Scouts Grade: 85

Flags: (B: BULK/SIZE) Lacks size/bulk for position(C: CHARACTER) Problems on and off the field

Strengths: Possesses a thick and sturdy build. Is athletic and strong. Shows good body control and balance. Maintains very good endurance and stamina. He has made huge strides as a passer. He has shortened up his delivery and has improved his overall mechanics. He displays very good arm strength and can drive the ball down the field. His field vision continues to improve with experience. He has undergone a complete transformation in terms of his patience within the pocket. He will make his progression reads and trust the protection around him. He is showing better timing and touch as a passer. Shows good touch on underneath routes. Makes quick decisions and does a good job of avoiding sacks. He is still a dual-threat quarterback prospect with the speed and elusiveness to burn defenses with his feet. Is a threat to run, showing excellent vision, initial quickness and burst for the position. He gets set quickly and shows quick feet in the pocket. Buys a lot of second-chance passing opportunities with his feet. Is an efficient passer when on the run and is extremely difficult to defend when he breaks contain. He is instinctive and competitive. Shows natural leadership skills and is the type of player that teammates trust in the clutch. He had several character issues early on in his career but he reportedly has matured tremendously.

Weaknesses: Possesses marginal height. Will have trouble finding passing windows from within the pocket and he has too many passes batted down. He has a tendency to get sloppy with his mechanics. Occasionally will throw from his back foot and also will revert to windmill delivery when he gets lazy. He will occasionally take too long to make his progression reads and will be late on some throws, as a result. Character is still a significant concern. He was suspended from the Alamo Bowl in 2004 after accepting money from a booster. He also was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct (with Santonio Holmes) after an on-campus fight broke out involving five women in a parking lot. He was later found guilty of the charge. He missed the Miami (Ohio) game and did not start vs. Texas in 2005 as a result of an earlier suspension.

Overall: Was the last recruit signed by Ohio State in the winter of 2002 and was redshirted. In 2003 as a redshirt freshman, Smith saw action in 11 games as a return specialist and slash-back. He began the 2004 season as the backup to Justin Zwick but started the seventh game after Zwick was injured the previous week. Smith started five games that season, passing for a total of 891 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions (all against Purdue), while also rushing for 339 yards on 82 attempts with two touchdowns. Smith was suspended for two games (finale in 2004 and opener in 2005) as a result of accepting illegal benefits from a booster. In 11 games during the 2005 season, Smith completed 63-percent of his passes for 2,282 yards. Smith also carried the ball 136 times for 611 net yards. He accounted for 27 total touchdowns (16 passing, 11 rushing) last season.
Few prospects in the 2007 NFL draft class have improved their stock as much as Smith has during his senior season. Smith has refined his passing skills and improved his overall decision making as a quarterback. He is still capable of beating defenses with his feet, but Smith has proven to be a much more patient passer this season. He has essentially become a cross between Michael Vick (Falcons) and Drew Brees (Saints). His character issues and below average size still serve as red flags, but we believe Smith has matured enough as a person and passer to warrant consideration as a first-day quarterback selection.

I'm pretty sure it was in referance to strictly his height.
